If you’re a texting person, you probably also send group/MMS messages. Creating a group with a small number of people is not a big deal. But if you want to send a bulk message to 50 people at once, entering their names, searching for contacts and adding them can be a chore. There’s no easy way to do this in the Messages app on iOS.
If you want to quickly start a group chat with a group you’ve selected, read on.
Create a group with Connect
Connect is a free contact management app and one of its features is that it allows you to create groups.
Download the app and open it. The app will ask for permission to access your contacts. Grant permission because the entire application depends on this access.
The app will now display a list of all your contacts. You can search for contacts at the top or scroll to find them.
Swipe a contact to the left to add them to the group. Since you haven’t created a group yet, the app will ask you to create one. Give it a name.
Now find the other contacts you want to add to the group, swipe left and select the group you created above. You can also create a new group from this screen if you want.
When your group is ready, tap Groups icon. At the top, you’ll see the name of the group. Press and hold the name for the options. Now choose Message button. The app will ask if you want to remove any contacts from the group chat. Clap ALRIGHT.
If any contact has more than one number, you will get a pop-up asking which number you want to send the message to. Select the number and press ALRIGHT.
Connect will now open the Messages app with all the contact details pre-populated. All you need to do is enter your message and hit send.
Once you’ve started the conversation, you don’t need to return to Connect. The topic will show up in the Messages app. But if for some reason the thread is deleted, you can easily start another message for the same group via Reconnect.
