We have seen how we were able to backup all users + system apps along with their app data using Titanium Backup. Now the problem about backup is that it has to be updated from time to time. Let’s say you have to flash your phone for some reason and you realize that the backup you have was made weeks ago. This is the same as having no backup at all and surely you wouldn’t want to fall into this situation right?
We have seen how we can manually rewrite old backups using batch mode, but today we will see how we can automate the process using Titanium Backup Scheduler .
Schedule a backup
Step 1: Run Titanium Backup and let it initialize and read your system settings. After launching the app, tap schedule tab at the top, next to the Overview and Backup/Restore buttons.
Step 2: When you run the scheduler for the first time, you will see two default tasks configured in it. one would be Redo modified data backup and another one would be Backup new users + system apps & newer versions. You can also see the date and time they are scheduled to take place, and both are essential if you ask me.
Step 3: Check the option enabled will enable them. If you need to edit the date and time of these scheduled tasks, you can tap edit button to edit the task. Here you can change the task’s date and time and choose what your phone will do after the task is finished.
Step 4: To add a personal task, tap the . button Add new schedule. A scheduled task will be automatically created for you and you will have to tap the edit button to change the action. There are many options for users here.
So that’s how you can schedule tasks on Titanium Backup and perform subsequent backups without any effort. Just make sure you exclude Titanium Backup from any task killer you are using on your device.
Conclusion
Scheduling backups is a great way to ensure that you have the latest backups for all the apps on your phone at any given time. The only thing missing here is that there is no way you can schedule call and message log backups and they will have to be handled manually.
