How to Run Multiple Instances of KMPlayer

Most media players don’t let you

run multiple instances

simultaneously. And why them, you wouldn’t watch a lot of movies or play a lot of songs at the same time, would you? While some people agree with this, there may be others who say, “Why not, I would love to do so”.

Well, there are more reasons and advantages to being able to do that. For example, when I have different file types of a movie, I always check each to choose the one with the best quality. And there is nothing better than playing them all together and comparing them easily.

Another advantage I see is being able to pause an audio/video and start a new audio/video without losing the position of the currently playing video. In addition, I can compare my own video edits in different formats or test videos with different effects at the same time. There can be N number of such reasons to run multiple instances of media player.

While I can always do this on VLC Media player, I would like something similar (if not the same) on KMPlayer (because that’s what I like :)). Luckily, I found a way to do it, and here’s how you can do the same.

Steps to activate multiple instances of KMPlayer

While I can do all of the things I mentioned with two different players at the same time, it doesn’t appeal to me to do so. Therefore, I chose to change the settings.

Step 1: Open the KMPlayer version on your computer. Right click on the interface and navigate to Options -> Options and click Interest. Alternatively, you can use the F2 keyboard shortcut to launch the Preferences window.

Step 2: On the Preferences window navigate to overview tab (on the right pane) and uncheck the read box Multiple instances are not allowed. Close window after you finish.

That’s all you need to do. And then, any new media you open will be launched on a new instance of the player. However, you can always use the drag and drop method, the option to open from the player interface, or the album art to replace the currently playing media with a new one.

Conclusion

Like I said, each of you may have your own reasons for running multiple instances of the same player. I said mine and here we open the comments section to let us know your opinion.

Also, try the other options in the Preferences window and let us know if you find something really interesting.
