Although it took quite some time, the team that developed the hugely popular jailbreak tool Evasi0n has finally released an iOS 7 compatible jailbreak tool that runs even on the most recent Apple devices, like iPhone 5S or iPad Air.
So if you own an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with the latest iOS 7, here’s how you can jailbreak using this tool.
What you need to know
If you’ve never had a jailbroken iOS device, know that performing this procedure always carries the risk of rendering your device unusable. Of course, the risk is almost non-existent, but it is still there, so do it at your own risk.
However, once the jailbreak is complete, your device will be able to access the Cydia Store, which is somewhat like the App Store, except that it offers a wide selection of apps, tools, and tweaks that aren’t authorized by Apple. .
We don’t tell you if you should really jailbreak your device. It’s your choice, and if it helps, we’ve already posted a post about the benefits and disadvantages of rooting Android, and the points (or concepts) are pretty much the same as in the case of iOS.
Now that we have that behind us, let’s start with the full list of devices compatible with this jailbreak:
- Iphone 5s
- Iphone 5c
- Iphone 5
- iPhone 4s
- Iphone 4
- iPad 2
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
- Air iPad
- Small iPad
- ipad mini 2
- iPod touch 5
Also, this jailbreak works on all the devices listed above and runs iOS 7.0 or later up to iOS 7.0.4.
How to jailbreak your iOS device running iOS 7 or later
Step 1: You will first have to download the evasi0n jailbreak tool for your Mac or PC from the developer’s website. Once downloaded, install it on your computer.
Step 2: Of course, if you plan to continue, you should always back up your iPhone or other iOS device first. This allows you to restore your device to its old settings in case things don’t go as planned.
Step 3: Disable passcode lock your iOS device, as this can cause problems when jailbreaking the device. Once the jailbreak is done, you can re-enable it.
In the same way, if you use a password to protect your iOS device backup on iTunes, you should also disable that feature and create a new backup that way.
Step 4: Now everything is ready, open evasi0n7 app and then plug your iOS device into your Mac or PC. The application will recognize it. Once done, click Unlocking for the process to begin.
Step 5: Soon, you will see the evasi0n7 icon on your iPhone screen. Just let it be for a while. If any instructions show up on the evasi0n7 app window, follow them (like unlocking your iPhone screen or tapping the evasi0n7 icon, for example). Otherwise, your iOS device will reboot in a few minutes.
Step 6: In some cases, that’s all. But sometimes the process ends and you still see the evasi0n7 icon there. In that case, just tap on it and after a while your device will reboot and the last Cydia icon will be available after the reboot.
Step 7: The final step is to open Cydia for the first time, which will cause your iOS device to do one final reboot. After that, Cydia will be ready to use, indicating that your jailbreak was successful.
And that’s about it. Now you can tweak your iOS device with everything Cydia has to offer.
