How to Import Passwords from 1Password to Dashlane

Dashlane has an easy import feature that allows you to transfer all your data from 1Password. Yes, it’s all your data—everything from saved Wi-Fi passwords to bank accounts, login information to autofill. If you’ve switched from LastPass to 1Password as per our recommendation, think twice about this last move; it’s easy enough. Follow the simple steps below to get started.

Export 1Password data

First, you’ll need to export your 1Password data. That means before you fully convert to Dashlane, it’s important that you haven’t removed 1Password from your computer.

Open 1Password and go to the menu bar. Click Document, then tap Export. Choose whether you want to export all items in your inventory or just some items to Dashlane. If you only want to export some passwords, first go back and select all the passwords in 1Password’s scrolling list that you want before going back to the menu and clicking Selected items… If not, click All items

You may be prompted to enter your master password here. Otherwise, you’ll immediately see that your passwords and other data are ready for export. 1Password also warns you that while your export file exists, none of your data is protected. Make sure that the file format is .lpif in the drop-down menu before continuing.

Important: To keep your information as safe as possible, make sure that as soon as future export and import is complete, you completely delete the exported file from 1Password from your computerScreenshot 2016 01 26 At 9:50 pm

After your 1Password data is exported to a location of your choice, open Dashlane. Go to the menu bar and click DocumentLater Import and then select 1Password from the list of services.

Note that Dashlane notifies you of the need .lpif file, so click Import in the window, locate your 1Password export and open it. It should be named “data.lpif.”

You are ready from here. Depending on how many items you have to import, it can take a while for them all to appear in Dashlane. Once the import is complete, you’ll see all your data now in Dashlane’s colorful interface.

Important: Double check that everything you want to import has been successfully added to the Dashlane app, including passwords, credit cards, bank accounts
