Are you planning or have created an Outlook.com account for yourself? Are you worried about the fact that you will have to
move or add your contacts
into the new account again? Well, if you have migrated from Hotmail/Live Mail the old and current contacts will be intact. Otherwise, you can still create a list in minutes.
Outlook provides built-in features for importing contacts from services like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. If you need support for something else, you can use Import from file select.
We will look at both the direct way and the file import method. Let us import contacts from Google (the process for other social sites should be similar) and let’s also see how to import files into images when importing contacts from unaffiliated services like Yahoo Mail .
Steps to import contacts from Google
Outlook.com offers a really easy way to collect contacts from most of the services out there. The steps for all other services should be roughly the same as those detailed below.
Step 1: Log in to Outlook Mail and point your mouse at Opinion icon (top left of the interface). Click the drop-down option (arrow pointing down).
Step 2: From the list of four widgets, select the one that’s reading Everybody. Click this icon.
Step 3: You will be taken to the People page where you will see a list of options to choose to import contacts from. In our case, we tried with Google.
Step 4: A window will pop up detailing what will happen when connecting these accounts. Click the read button Connect.
Step 5: The next step will ask you to log in to your account. If you have already opened a session (for that account) this step will be skipped automatically.
Step 6: Microsoft will ask for permission to be able to access, view and manage your Google contacts. Click Allow access.
Step 7: Depending on the number of contacts imported and copied, the operation will take some time. You will see a message when it is done.
If you want, you can change the connection settings right there or move on to a later stage. Shown below are the default connection settings for Google and Facebook respectively.
Use file import
If you feel that the contact list you need will not be fully provided by the list in your social network, you can use Import from file select. I used it to import my contacts from Yahoo Mail. Follow Steps 1 – 4 in this article and return to Outlook to continue the process.

The process of bringing contacts from different places to one destination has never been this easy. It took me almost 10 minutes to organize my new profile and lump all my contacts together. I’m sure it will be easy for you too.
