Why does Zoom ask for a meeting password?
Although the number of downloads of the Zoom app has skyrocketed in the past few months, it is also under intense scrutiny. Criticism regarding its lack of privacy is disturbing. While some reports claim that Zoom is not protected end-to-end, others face the issue of Zoom bombing where unwanted participants can join your meeting.
In an effort to address the Zoom bombing, Zoom enabled the password feature by default for all meetings. So every new meeting you create will have a password now. That way, only people with the password will be allowed to join your meeting.
In addition to the password, you now need to manually add people to your meeting. That’s because all participants are hosted in a virtual waiting room which is enabled by default. Only when the host accepts them will they join a meeting.

The Zoom password is visible only to the meeting organizer who needs to share it with other participants.

Find Zoom password on Windows 10
There are two ways to do so.
Method 1: Find the password when creating a meeting
Step 1: Launch the Zoom app on your PC.
Step 2: Click New Meeting.
Step 3: You will see the Password written on the window that opens. You need to share it with others who will join via the meeting ID.
Additionally, if you invite them via a link, the password will be attached to the invitation URL in encrypted form. Notice the ‘pwd’ in the link? The alphanumeric text after the equal sign is the password. The recipient needs to click the link. The password box won’t show up because the link already has a password.
Similarly, for meetings created with your personal meeting ID, click the small down arrow on the Zoom app’s main screen. Click on your meeting ID and select Copy invitation.
Paste the invitation into an email, chat, etc. You will receive an invitation link with a password attached. The password is also mentioned separately if the link doesn’t work for some reason. Enter the meeting ID along with the password.
Method 2. Find the password during a meeting
To do that, click on the small ‘i’ icon in the top left corner of the meeting screen. You will see your meeting details, such as invitation link, password, etc. Share password with meeting participants.
View passwords for scheduled meetings
If you have a meeting scheduled, you need to share the password with others. You can resend them a new invitation link or share a password.
For that, click the Meetings tab currently at the top in the Zoom desktop app. There you will find your scheduled meetings. Click Show meeting invitation to see details like password and updated invitation link.
Find Zoom password on Android and iPhone
If you’re creating a new meeting, click the New Meeting icon in the Zoom app, then click Start Meeting. You will find the meeting password mentioned above just below the meeting ID.
Note: Find passwords in the same place in case meetings are in progress.
Alternatively, tap Present Participants at the bottom. Then select Invite.
Select an app or tap Copy URL. The invitation URL will have the password attached.
How to use the zoom password
As the host, your job is to share the password with the participants. As mentioned before, if an updated invitation link is shared there is no need to share a separate password because the password is attached to the link.
As a participant, you just need to click on the invitation link. If you’re joining through the meeting ID, you’ll have to enter the password manually.
How to disable the zoom password
Let me be clear. The organizer cannot delete the Zoom meeting password. Although there is an option in the Zoom settings, the Zoom admin has locked it. That means a password is now required for all Zoom meetings.
However, you can change the password for meetings created with your personal meeting ID. For that, open the link zoom.us/profile/setting. Scroll down and you will see the option ‘Require password for personal meeting ID’. Click the edit icon next to the password. Enter your new password.
