How to Find and Download Album Art For Music on Windows 7

I’ve been a Winamp fan for a long time and it’s been working great for years. But in the last few months, I started using iTunes (for Windows 7) when some of my friends recommended it. I was really impressed by it. Not only does iTunes look great, but it also offers cool features like smart playlists that make it even better.

Album Art

One eye-catching feature of iTunes that I like is the album traffic, but even if one of them is missing it ruins its beauty and hence I am looking for a way to fill in the gaps and download the album art for his entire music collection.

Album Art Downloader is a useful freeware for Windows that helps me update the album art of my music collection using various online resources. So let’s see how to use this tool.

Note: All music belonging to a particular album must be in the same folder for the tool to work properly.

Using Album Art Downloader

Download and install Album Art Downloader on your computer. While installing the program remember to check the option Add to Explorer context menu.

Setting

Well, one can run the program and then browse for the media folders for which he wants to change the album art but we will use the context menu option for the same. When trying out the application, I feel that navigating folders in Windows Explorer is more user-friendly than the program itself. So navigate to the live parent folder you want to replace or add a new cover photo to.

Browse album art

Right click on the folder containing the music and select the option Browse album art. Album Art Downloader will initialize and search the folder. If album art already exists, it will list them and you can preview and click Get Artwork button to choose. If there is no album art by default, you can directly click the button to find it.

File detected

As soon as you click the button to find the album art, the main screen of Album Art Downloader will open and list all the album covers that can match the album. These results are fetched using many services like Amazon, 7Digital, CD Universe, etc.

Search Album Art

You can click the Options link to open Advanced options if you want to be specific about the image size and other details. Finally, when you discover the perfect album art that matches the album, click the little save button (floppy disk).

Apply Album Art

Now select the option where you want to apply the new album cover and save the settings. If you’re trying to overwrite an existing album cover, you’ll have to confirm your decision.

Overwrite existing

That’s it, repeat these steps for all the folders where you want to apply the album art.

Conclusion

The best thing about this process is that you don’t need to tag your routes perfectly. All you need is to have them all in the same folder. Hope you enjoy this tool.

Don’t forget to share with us if you know of a better tool that can do the task more efficiently.
