How to delete YouTube videos on desktop
You can delete a YouTube video on your computer by visiting its official website in any web browser. Just make sure you’re signed in to YouTube with the account you want to delete the video from.
Step 1: Open YouTube in your favorite web browser and sign in if you haven’t already. This method works on both Windows and macOS.
Step 2: Click on your YouTube account profile picture in the top right corner.
Step 3: Click ‘YouTube Studio’. This will open your YouTube channel dashboard.
Step 4: Now, click on Content. This will take you to a list of all the videos you’ve uploaded to YouTube.
Step 5: Search for the video you want to delete. Click the three-dot icon for that video.
Step 6: Now, click on Delete Permanently.
Step 7: YouTube will prompt you with a warning. Click the checkbox and select Delete Permanently.
Your selected video has now been permanently removed from YouTube.
How to delete YouTube videos on mobile devices
You can remove videos from your YouTube channel via mobile phone in two ways – by using the YouTube app or the YouTube Studio app. This is a step-by-step process for both.
Note: We used an Android phone to illustrate the steps, but they are the same for iPhone.
Method 1: Using YouTube app
Step 1: Open the YouTube app. Tap your YouTube channel’s profile picture icon.
Step 2: Then tap on Your Channel.
Step 3: Click Manage videos. This will take you to a list of all the videos on your YouTube channel.
Step 4: Navigate to the video that you want to delete. Tap the three-dot icon on the video.
Step 5: Select Delete. Then tap Delete again to confirm.
This will remove the selected video immediately from YouTube.
Method 2: Using the YouTube Studio app
Step 1: Download the YouTube Studio app to your Android or iOS device.
Step 2: Click on Content. This will open a list of all the videos on your channel in the YouTube Studio app.
Step 3: Search for the video you want to delete. Tap the three-dot button next to the video.
Step 4: Now, select the Delete option. YouTube Studio will ask you to confirm the removal of the video. Select ‘Remove from YouTube’.
And that’s it. Your video will be removed from YouTube. However, if you don’t want to permanently delete a YouTube video, you can archive it. This way, the video won’t be visible to anyone but you.
YouTube has no archive option. You can change the video’s visibility to Private instead, which will work similarly to the archive. Here’s how you can do it.
Hide videos from YouTube without deleting
You can hide YouTube videos on both your desktop and mobile. Here’s how to do it.
On desktop
Step 1: Open the YouTube website in your computer’s web browser and sign in.
Step 2: Click on the avatar icon. Select YouTube Studio.
Step 3: Now click on Content. This will show you a list of all the videos on your channel.
Step 4: Select the video you want to hide. In the visibility column, click the triangle icon.
Step 5: Now, click on Private. Then click Save.
Your selected video will now be hidden from YouTube. However, if someone already has a link to the video, they’ll see a prompt that the video has been made private by the owner. So take note of this.
On mobile devices:
You can hide videos directly from the YouTube app or by using the YouTube Studio app. The process remains the same across apps.
Step 1: Open the YouTube app. Tap the profile picture icon.
Step 2: Then select your Channel.
Step 2: Now tap on the ‘Manage Videos’ option.
Step 3: Access the video you want to hide and click the three-dot icon at the top left of the video.
Step 4: Select the Edit option.
Step 5: Click on the Visibility section.
Step 6: Now, select Private to hide your video. Then, tap the back arrow icon.
Step 7: Press the Save button to apply your changes.
And that is a confusing moment for you because your selected video will disappear from YouTube for others while being visible only to you.
Bonus: Report a YouTube violation
If you come across an inappropriate video on YouTube, you can report it to the YouTube team. You can also take this step if you want to delete your YouTube videos that someone else uploaded without your consent. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Open the YouTube video you want to report.
