How to Deactivate or Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account

As you know, Facebook has experienced incredible growth in recent years and now it is the undisputed leader in the social networking space. So the question is why would anyone want to permanently delete or deactivate their Facebook account. Well, here are some possible reasons.

  • You don’t like social media anymore and you want to get rid of it.
  • You don’t feel safe on Facebook and have privacy issues.
  • You spend (or waste) too much time on Facebook.
  • You have switched to another network. Twitter, maybe?

See, there can be a lot of reasons. Therefore, this article is for those who think they have had enough with Facebook and want to give up. As always, Guiding Tech is here to help. Here are the steps.

How to deactivate your Facebook account

Here are the steps to deactivate your Facebook profile temporarily.

That’s it. Your account will be disabled. Note that you can activate your account at any time by logging back into Facebook. Deactivation does not mean deleting the account. Facebook continues to store your profile information (friends, photos, etc.). Deactivation just means that no users (including your friends) can see your account.

Permanently delete your Facebook account

You can permanently delete your Facebook account. It will permanently delete all your profile information, status updates, profile and all other account information. Once deleted, you cannot get your profile back, so think twice before taking this step. Done thinking yet? We go here. ????

1. Click this link.

2. A page will open as shown in the screenshot below. Click the “Submit” button.

Another box will pop up. It will tell you that your account will be permanently deleted within 14 days. This is a grace period provided by Facebook to give you time to rethink your decision. You can reactivate your account in those 14 days by logging in.

This way you can deactivate or delete your Facebook account. You will notice that the steps are not so obvious. Facebook doesn’t want people to leave easily (understandably).

If you are the one who deactivated or deleted your Facebook account, we are curious to know why you did so. Is that one of the reasons we give? or some other reason? Tell us in the comments.
