Recently, Microsoft released a new build of Windows 10 (build 10041) with many new features and improved stability. For all the early adopters and also those who want to switch to it in the near future, today I show you how to create a custom ISO of Windows 10. This process will automate some of the installation steps, allows you to stream any show you want and removes features and components to reduce installation size. All of this can be done using the freeware application WinReducer 10.

One downside to this method is that you need a working Windows 10 installation to run the program. If you don’t want to install Windows 10 on your main PC, you can install it in VirtualBox on Windows or Mac.
Before we begin, make sure you have:
- Windows 10 ISO Technical Preview. You can download it from here.
- Latest WinReducer 10 version.
- At least 25 GB of free space on your storage drive for you to save WinReducer 10 folder.
Cool Tip: You can also create a custom ISO of Windows 8/8.1 using WinReducer by following our instructions.
Create a custom ISO of Windows 10
Step 1: After downloading WinReducer 10, copy the file WinReducer100 folder to a drive with at least 25 GB of free space. Inside the folder you have two subfolders, HOME PAGE And JOB. The HOME PAGE folder contains all application related files and folders while JOB folder containing all Windows ISO related files.
Step 2: Open the program by clicking on WinReducer100.exe. A dialog box will open asking you to activate Lifetime VIP version. Click ARE NOT, will display another dialog, showing configuration errors. Click ALRIGHT, will eventually display this window.
Step 3: In CONFIGURATION window, you will notice that all the switches in the Software detection the box is TURN OFF. We need to make them ABOVE. Click the name next to each button, which will start downloading the corresponding file and display a “download complete” message when it’s done.
After you do it for all five buttons, CONFIGURATION The window will look like this. If any download fails, do the above procedure again.
Step 4: After completing the above step, close the CONFIGURATION window and a new small window will be waiting for you. Now the main task begins, above just to make sure that WinReducer has all the necessary tools to modify the ISO.
Step 5: In this new window click on Options > ISO and navigate to the location of the Windows 10 ISO. It will start the extraction process, which may take some time. After decompressing, click mountain to mount the ISO file. The window in which we make the main edit of the ISO opens.
Step 6: Customize! WinReducer includes a lot of options to adjust the ISO to your liking, but explaining each option is beyond the scope of this article. Instead, we will list the most common options that you can use to trim the operating system size and automate some of the installation steps.
Go down to Settings
Presets: In this tab you can switch presets Automatic deletion process to remove the following components/features from the ISO. All of them switch protectionif rotating ABOVEwill prevent the removal of necessary files from the ISO required for the operation of those respective entries.
So if you want to install MS office in the future, switch Protect MS Office ARRIVE ABOVE. convert Protect important filess to ABOVE as well as in case it is variable TURN OFF.
Features: Here you can remove some components of Windows that you don’t want. For example, if you will never attach a printer/fax machine to your PC, you can remove Printer & Fax support. But if you are unsure about the functionality of any component or feature, it is safer to not remove it.
Remover: This is the main area where you can do a lot of trimming. You can remove unnecessary languages and keyboard support for Dothraki (if you speak this language I am already your fan) and any other language you don’t need. You can remove the Modern UI apps (I hope you don’t because in 10 these have been greatly improved), driver support for devices you will never settings hours, themes, etc. The options here are really exhaustive and you can explore a bit in other areas to customize it to your liking.
Services: Similarly, here you can remove services that you don’t need, but I would advise against tinkering with this section unless you are a Windows expert.
System: In this tab you can integrate various drivers and additional applications will be installed automatically.
Under Integration sub tab you can include driver files and updates using WinReducer Update Tool to fetch updates for Windows. Under User directoryput your My Documents folder and below Install the article WinReduceryou should include the folder containing all the .exe files (only) of the applications that you want to install automatically.
Unattended: In this tab, you can automate most of the installation tasks and reduce clicks. First, convert the Enable unattended option ARRIVE ABOVE. Enter the relevant details for Computer name, Serial number, Time zone, power settings, screen resolution, system language and keyboard, username and password, and transform accept EULA ARRIVE ABOVE. There are other options but you shouldn’t mess with them if you’re not a computer geek.
Step 7: Finally, after you have finished customizing, press Finish > Apply, will start the build process. Depending on your customizations, building the ISO can take up to half an hour. You can find your ISO in JOB > ISO folder.
Conclusion
So that’s how you can create an unattended Windows 10 custom ISO with reduced install size. If you need further assistance, feel free to suggest it in the comments section below.
