When testing those apps on LeTV Le Max, I noticed that there is a similar problem with the eUI. The IR blaster is only accessible by the built-in app and is hidden from third-party access. What’s even worse is that the built-in Remote Control app’s database only has some basic TV models and doesn’t work with most of the devices we have in India and the US.
The only bright spot is that the app has the option to add a universal remote. Using this option, one can design a custom remote and control all devices. What’s even better is that I can design a custom remote and fit everything into a single remote.
Configure the Universal Remote
So when you open the remote and tap add device, you get the option to design the Universal Remote. When you tap on it, it gives you buttons that you can use to design a custom remote from scratch.
You will get almost all the buttons you get on a regular remote. You simply drag and drop the buttons on the remote and place them to your comfort. Once you’ve designed the remote, move on to the next step.
Now you will have to train the multimeter remote using the physical remote that you use on the device. Point the phone and the infrared remote transmitter at each other, then press the button on the phone you bring to train. Next, press and hold the button on the physical remote until you see a green symbol on the button.
Repeat the steps to configure all the buttons on the multifunction virtual remote and tap done. That is all. You can now use your LeTV device as an infrared remote control for all the devices in your home. No need to depend on updates that cover your device. The feature is so good that I even configured my Canon IR remote in it.
One helpful trick you can use when configuring the Letv universal remote is to maximize the real space you have on your screen. Instead of configuring two different remotes for your TV and Set top box, you can use the top and bottom quadrants for each and use the most used buttons from both. .
