Google Translate is definitely a pioneer in bringing translations to smartphones. And, it has grown and gets better with each update. This is one of the must-have apps for travelers.
Google Translate added real-time translation to the app in June 2015. However, in recent use, I didn’t find it effective. Real-time translation only works when the target text is bright enough and has some common fonts.
Otherwise, translations from captured photos or inbuilt camera snapshots translate perfectly, as shown in the screenshot above. Take a picture and it will try to detect the text from the image.
