Google Calendar is a popular tool for managing schedules and planning events. However, you often receive spam invitations that clutter your calendar. Luckily, Google Calendar has added a new option that allows you to block spam invitations.
As a result, you can easily identify and remove spam invitations from your Google Calendar. The most convenient part is that it can be done from a PC as well as a mobile device. Read along to take back your control.
Method 1: Change the calendar permission on your phone to block spam invitations
This is one of the most common reasons why you get spam invites in Google Calendar. While Android and iOS devices have features that limit an app’s access to your calendar, some apps still have access without your permission. Here’s how to prevent them.
On Android
We are using a OnePlus 7T running Oxygen OS 12.1 for steps. However, they are still more or less the same for all Android devices.
Step 1: Access the Settings app on your phone from the app drawer.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Privacy.
Note: Options may vary depending on the device you are using.
Step 3: Select Permissions Manager.
Step 4: Go to Calendar.
In the Allowed section, all apps that have access to your Google Calendar will be displayed.
Step 5: Tap on the app you want to remove Google Calendar access.
Step 6: Select Do not allow.
With this, the app’s access to your calendar has been removed. However, if you’re using an iPhone, move on to the next section.
On iPhone
Step 1: Open Settings on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on ‘Privacy & Security.’
Step 3: Under ‘Privacy & Security’, select Calendar.
Step 4: Disable the app(s) for which you want to remove access.
You have now removed some apps’ access to your Calendar. Please note that this will not delete or change unwanted events that have already been generated. You’ll have to do it manually on both iPhone and Android, as discussed later in this article.

Method 2: Change event settings in Google Calendar to get rid of spam invitations
You can also change the event settings to get rid of spam invitations. Also, if you change your email event invitation settings on desktop, the same will reflect on mobile and vice versa. With that said, continue with the desktop steps.
On desktop
Step 1: Access Google Calendar on your preferred browser.
Step 2: Click the gear icon (settings) in the upper right corner.
Step 3: From the drop-down menu, select Settings.
Step 4: Click Event Settings in the General section.
Step 5: In the right pane, click ‘Add invitations to my calendar’ from the drop-down list and select ‘Only when the sender is known’.
Note: If you want to manage your email invitations, select ‘When I reply to email invitations.’ This gives you greater control over your schedule.
Step 6: Finally click OK to confirm the change.
There you have it. You changed your Google Calendar event settings using your desktop. If you don’t have access to a PC but still want to change your Google Calendar settings, move on to the next section to learn how to do it with your phone.
On mobile
Step 1: Open Google Calendar on your Android or iOS device.
Step 2: Next, tap the hamburger icon in the top left corner.
Step 3: Scroll down to find Settings and click on it.
Step 4: In the Settings page, go to General and select Add invitation.
Step 5: In the Google account for which you want to block spam invitations, tap ‘Add invitations to my calendar’.
Step 6: From the drop-down menu, select ‘Only when the sender is known’ to only allow invitations from the contact list and prevent unknown senders.
Note: To better manage your email invitations, select ‘When I reply to email invitations.’
Step 6: Click OK in the prompt for the changes to take effect.
Your go. You’ve changed the Google Calendar app settings to remove spam invitations. If you want to go a step further and delete the invitation on the created calendar, see the following method.
Method 3: How to delete all spam events in Google Calendar
Please note that, like the event settings, when you delete a spam calendar event from your PC, it will also be automatically deleted from your phone. You don’t need to follow the steps there. Let’s get started.
On PC
Step 1: Access Google Calendar on your preferred browser.
Step 2: Click the event you want to remove from your calendar.
Step 3: In the event details popup, click the delete icon.
That’s it. You have successfully deleted the event using your PC. You can do the same thing from your Google Calendar app. Follow up.
On mobile
It’s much faster and easier to delete spam calendar events on your mobile device. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open Google Calendar on your Android or iOS device and tap the event you want to remove from your calendar.
You will be taken to the event details page.
Step 2: Click on the three-dot icon in the upper right corner.
