import your contacts
from another phone or service. That joke about whether that smartphone can make calls is still laughable but we usually start
set up our new phone
by making sure we can use it to make or receive calls.
Now, doing it manually takes a lot of work. The best solution, if you are using a basic phone, is to copy the contacts to the SIM card (from the old phone) and then transfer them to the new phone. Another possible way is to seek the help of your computer. But if your previous phone was also a smartphone then you most likely used Google Contacts to sync your contacts to the cloud.
Today we will see how to pull your contacts from Google to your Windows Phone 8 device.
Note: The Windows Phone 8 device used for this post is a Nokia Lumia 920. The steps are the same for all WP8 phones.
Steps to add Google contacts to Windows Phone 8
The best possible way here is to add Google’s email service to the phone. When you do that, the contacts will automatically sync. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Swipe the Start Screen to the left to get to the detailed list of apps. Towards Setting.
Step 2: On System installation screen, look for options email + account. Tap to open options.
Step 3: Along with the list of accounts that you have added, you will see an option to add an account. Start with that.
Step 4: From add an account search screen Google. You can select other services in the same way.
Step 5: The moment you do that, you will be asked to provide your account credentials. input Email address and Password before you click next.
Note: Enter the full email address. For example, [email protected] If you don’t do that, the next button will not be activated.
Step 6: You will then be asked to select the content to sync. Select Email, contacts and calendar to make sure your contacts are imported.
Step 7: Click log in and wait. You will be taken back email + account install and will notice sync activity.
When done, you will have all your Google contacts on your phone. You will have access to their phone numbers, email addresses and other details associated with the respective contacts in the list.
The steps for other services are very similar. And, based on the service you’re adding, you’ll have different sync options.
Note: If you’re adding a Google app account, you must ensure that administrative permissions for Google sync settings are enabled.
