Appear offline on the Discord Desktop app
Let us show you how to appear offline on the Discord desktop app, and then we’ll do the same from the Discord mobile app.
Step 1: Open Discord on Windows or Mac.
Step 2: Find your profile icon at the bottom and click on it.
Step 3: Choose Invisible and you will see the green indicator turn gray.
It’s an indication of your current offline status in the Discord app. However, do not worry about the functionality of the application. You will have full access to all Discord features with Hidden.
Appear offline on the Discord mobile app
If you’re on the go and want to check for the latest updates from the Discord servers without being disturbed, you can also set the Hidden status from the Discord mobile app.

Step 1: Open the Discord app on your iPhone or Android.
Step 2: Scroll to your profile tab at the bottom.
Step 3: Select Set status.

Status Types in Discord
Let’s talk about the different types of states available for use in Discord.
Online: This is the default Discord status. The app will show you online when you open it on your desktop or mobile device. You will notice a green indicator next to your name in Discord. This status lets others know that you are actively using Discord and available to chat.
Idle: As the name suggests, Idle indicates you are inactive in Discord. If you have Discord open on your desktop but not at your desk, the app will change your status from online to inactive.
Once you open the Discord app and start interacting with others, the service will again change your status to Online. You’ll see a yellow moon icon next to your Discord profile picture.
Do Not Disturb: Discord DND status works similar to our phone. You will not receive any new notifications once DND status is enabled in the Discord app. A red circle will appear under your account photo in the app. When you turn on DND mode, people will see busy status and annoy you.
Invisible: This is basically private mode in Discord. You can continue browsing Discord without letting anyone know about your activity or status in the app. When you want to keep up with Discord server updates without being bothered by messages from others, you can go offline in Discord and continue working.
Why you want to appear offline in Discord
Maybe you want to focus on a specific task or are discussing an important topic with someone on Discord and you don’t want to be interrupted by messages from other people. You can enable Hidden in Discord and get on with your work.
Offline mode also allows you to play games without being forced to reply to incoming messages. No one will point out your ignorance as they simply don’t know about your online status in the app. Meanwhile, you can stay up to date with relevant chats.
Set custom status in Discord
Users also have an option to set custom statuses in Discord. Maybe you’re on vacation or away from your desk for a while. You can set the relevant auto custom status to clear after a set time. Here’s how you can use it.
Step 1: Open Discord on the desktop.
Step 2: Click on the profile picture and select Set custom status.
Step 3: Name the status, select the timeline you want to delete.
Step 4: Select the default state and press the Save button.
Become Anonymous in Discord
Sometimes you won’t want others to know about your online status and jam your Discord feed with messages and mentions directly in the app. You can set your status as hidden and continue to use the app with full access.
