On WhatsApp, people will automatically appear in your contact list if their number is saved on your phone. However, you need to save contacts in other apps like Skype to chat with them. Skype live ID, to put it simply, is your unique username on Skype. It’s called Skype Name by Microsoft. You will find it in settings using only Skype Name. So there is nothing different or strange that requires different steps. That is, you can add contacts with IDs directly on Skype by following the same steps as you would for email addresses or phone numbers.

How to add Skype contacts on desktop with Live ID
There are two ways to do that.
Method 1: Use Search
Step 1: Launch the Skype app on your PC.
Step 2: You will find the search bar at the top right below your name. Enter the Skype Direct ID, email address, or phone number of the person you want to add. Skype will display suggested results.
Step 3: Click on the name of the person you want to add. Send a message to that person. That person will receive a request along with your message.
Note: You can only send up to 10 messages to that person until they accept your request. Also, if you submit any images in the meantime, that image will be blurred.
If you want to send a request in the traditional way without a message, you should use the new Contact button. To do that, open the Skype app and go to the Contacts tab at the top. Click New Contact.
Enter the person’s direct ID in the search box. You can also search by their full name, email address or phone number. You will be shown suggested results. Click the Add button next to the person you want to add.
Tip: Many times, the person does not receive a request using this method. If that happens, send them a message.
How to add someone on Skype on Android and iPhone with Skype ID
There are two methods to add a contact on the Skype mobile app.
Method 1: From Search
Step 1: Open the Skype app on your mobile phone.
Step 2: Tap the search icon at the top. Alternatively, tap the more floating icon in the lower right corner. Then use search.
Step 3: Enter the person’s direct ID. Then, tap the person you want to add from the suggested results. Send them a message. They will also receive your request.
Method 2: From Contacts
In the Skype mobile app, tap the Contacts tab present at the bottom. Click the add icon.
Find people using their direct ID or Skype calls it Skype Name. Click Add next to the requested person’s name.

How to invite someone on Skype
If you’re having any issues adding a person with their direct ID, you can send them an invitation link. When they click the link, they will be able to chat with you on Skype. And when that happens, you’ll automatically be added to each other’s contact lists.

For that, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Skype application. Click your name or profile picture at the top. Select the Skype profile from the menu.
Step 2: Click Share Profile on the window that opens.

Create Skype invites on mobile devices
Here are the steps to create your personal Skype invite on Android and iPhone.
Step 1: Tap your profile picture or the icon present at the top center of the screen in the Skype app.
Step 2: Click on the Skype profile. Then tap Share Profile.
Step 3: Tap Copy to clipboard and paste it in the required application. Also, tap more. The sharing menu will open. Select the app with which you want to share the invitation.
How to accept invitations on Skype
When someone adds you on Skype, you’ll see their request in the chat thread. Tap or click Accept.
If you receive an invitation link, you need to click or tap Join.
