Why Can’t I Follow Someone on Instagram

Instagram remains an important tool in the social media space. With over a billion users worldwide, Instagram has strict guidelines in place to prevent abuse, harassment, and any abuse of the platform. The Instagram app may sometimes limit your account to certain functions. You may not like posts, share comments, or even follow someone on Instagram. You may want to know why it happens and how to stop it.

There are several factors that lead to such problems in your Instagram account. It could be network connection problems, using Instagram too much in a short time, authentication errors, etc. Check them out.

1. You Have Exceeded The Limit

To prevent spam and bots from taking over the platform, Instagram has put a limit on how many accounts you can follow in an hour or a day. Hourly limit is 200 and you can follow up to 7500 accounts daily. If you’ve exceeded the set limit, you won’t be able to follow more accounts on Instagram. Wait a day or two and start following more accounts without a problem.

While you wait for Instagram to lift the limit, you should unfollow the accounts you interact with the least.

2. Instagram takes action to block your account

Your Instagram account actually goes read-only when the company’s actions block it. Follow multiple accounts in a minute, like and share comments on posts in a short time, or connect too many third-party services to your Instagram account – all such activities can be done. causes a red flag for Instagram’s algorithms. That’s how some functions on your account are restricted. In extreme cases, Instagram may also ban your account outright or outright. That means you can’t follow someone, like or share posts, or share comments on Instagram.

Has someone blocked you on Instagram? Unfortunately, you cannot follow such accounts. When things go awry for your friend or family member, that person may block you on Instagram.
