It’s been two months since I’ve been using my new Macbook Pro, which comes with OS X Lion, for my main job.
I am also running Windows 7 using Virtualbox and end up using both platforms but most of my time is spent in OS X Lion and I must say it is a new and enriching experience.
But Mac OS X Lion, like any new version of a product, comes with its own set of annoyances.
One of the main causes is the lack of click and drag feature. You know how to double-click an icon or piece of text, then hold and drag the second click to move that icon or text to a new location? That’s right, it’s the same on pre-Lion versions of Windows, Linux, and OS X. Lion, on the other hand, has replaced this gesture with a three-finger click to drag, something that obviously annoys most users.
Luckily, a fix is available, and it’s an easy fix. All it takes is to change certain settings and that’s what we’re going to talk about in today’s post.
Steps to Enable Double Click and Drag in Mac OS X Lion
So here are the steps for all your new OS X Lion users to get that old click and drag feature back.
Step 1: Go to the Apple menu and click System Preferences.
Step 2: On the System Preferences page, click the button that says Global Access.
Step 3: You will see several tabs at the top, namely Look, Listen, Keyboard, and Mouse & Trackpad. Click Mouse & Trackpad. There, go to the bottom and click the button that says Trackpad options.
Step 4: This is the final step. Here you just need to make sure that drag check box is checked and it says with Glue lock next to it. That’s it, click Finished once you are done.
That’s about it. Now you’ll see your old and favorite double click or double tap and drag work seamlessly across the entire operating system. Hope that helps.
