A few days ago we talked about a great way Android and iOS users can share photos using hotspot. However, the trick involves apps that create FTP servers and manually create hotspots when there’s no Wi-Fi network available. Moreover, this trick is limited to photos only.

Today I will talk about a quite useful application called SHAREit, which can easily transfer media between Android, iOS and Windows. Files are transferred over Wi-Fi pretty quickly when compared to Bluetooth and Airdrop. So, let’s see how to use the app to facilitate money transfers.

Note: For this article, I will cover how to transfer files between Android and iOS, but the same methods can be adapted to any supported device.

How to share files using SHAREit

Step 1: Download and install SHAREit app on your device from respective stores. This app is free on all stores and does not come with ads. After you install the app, launch it and create an account on the device. The account is created offline and is only used to identify your device when connecting to other phones.

Step 2: Once the app is configured on both devices, you will have the option to send or receive on the home screen of the app. Now to start sharing, tap Send button. While iOS and Windows users can share photos, videos, music, and contacts between devices, Android users can additionally share their installed free apps with other Android devices. So select all the files you want to share and tap ALRIGHT button.

Step 3: The app will start broadcasting on the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to. So make sure the receiving device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network and tap receive button. You will soon be able to see the receiving device in the scanner on the sending device’s screen. Now all you need to do is send the file and it will be received immediately.

Note: While transferring files from Android, the app will automatically create a Wi-Fi hotspot if there is no hotspot. Then other devices can connect to this hotspot and transfer files. However, this feature is limited to Android senders only.

So that’s how you can transfer media files between cross-platform smartphones using Wi-Fi. The application’s simple plug and play interface makes this process easy for users.

What should you know?

While the app is available for Windows, Android, and iOS devices, not all have the same feature set. Android has one or two more features than other devices, meaning you can transfer apps, clone devices, and also initiate the transfer by creating a Wi-Fi hotspot. But that’s only secondary. If all you need is to quickly transfer photos and videos between two devices, then SHAREit will live up to your expectations.
