Have you ever used Streamus? This was one of the first Chrome extensions to offer free music streaming from YouTube. It’s one of the fastest ways to access music with just a few clicks. Then UpNext went even further, allowing users to stream music not only from YouTube but also from other music services. Both of these services provide instant access to music from our Chrome browser. Now let’s go one step further. Why not instantly access the most popular songs of your favorite genre?
Instant access to your favorite music.
Well, the Chrome app I’m about to show you today does exactly that.
Streamus downfall: If you’re one of the 300,000 users of the Streamus Chrome extension. Then you must know that the service is no longer available. In fact, it was removed from the Chrome Web Store by YouTube. YouTube claims that it is hindering the video streaming service by skipping video (along with ads) and only streaming audio. Instant Music Chrome App
Instant Music is a Chrome app that gives you instant access to your favorite songs and even the trendiest songs of your favorite genre. Yes, we don’t often use Chrome apps as extensions. However, this may tempt you to add the Chrome app page to your bookmarks bar. So let’s find out and see if it really does the trick.
First, let me explain how this Chrome app works. Basically, what it does is take iTunes charts from various genres and display them on a screen categorized by specific genres. And, after doing so, it allows you to play the corresponding music video right on YouTube. Yes, that video frame was needed after what happened to Streamus. Although, the ad is not showing.
Not many features to offer. It is in testing phase. It has a simple user interface to control the music.
You also control the song from the YouTube video frame. iTunes charts are displayed as a list with the option to add them to your favorites folder.
On the left, you have all the genres listed. Also, it looks like the developer is Korean. So the Korean Melon Music streaming service was also added.
Pressing the heart button will add the song to the favorites folder. In addition, the Force Search feature is also available. It works well. All search results are obtained from YouTube’s search engine. Although sometimes it doesn’t work.
Don’t forget the keyboard shortcuts:
Windows:
Pause play: Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow
The next song: Ctrl + Shift + Right Arrow P
Previous song: Ctrl + Shift + Left Arrow
Repeat this: Ctrl + Shift + ERROR
Mac:
Pause play: Command + Shift + Down Arrow
The next song: Command + Shift + Right Arrow
Previous song: Command + Shift + Left Arrow
iOS users? Here’s how you can turn YouTube into an Online Music Player.
Right away. Actually?
It’s true that you can quickly access POPULAR songs from your FAVORITE Genres. However, accessing the Chrome app and actually playing the song isn’t instant. Well, one thing you can do is create shortcuts to Chrome apps for quick access to them.
