6 Ways to Insert Arrows in Google Docs

Method 1: Type Arrows in Google Docs with Keyboard Shortcuts

One of the easiest ways to add arrows to your Google Docs document is to use keyboard shortcuts. You can create right, left, or double arrows using the keyboard.

For example, type a dash (-) twice followed by a greater than sign with no space between them (- – >) to create a right arrow.

Method 2: Insert arrows with special characters

Follow these steps to insert arrows in Google Docs with Special Characters:

Step 1: In your Google Docs document, click Insert from the top menu and select Special characters from the menu.

Step 2: The Insert special characters window will display. Make sure that Icons and Arrows are selected in the given drop-down box. You will be greeted by all kinds of arrows.

Step 3: Place the cursor wherever you want to insert the arrow. Then click the arrow you want to insert in your document. Click the X icon to close the window.

Method 3: Add Arrows to Photos or Text in Google Docs using Google Drawings

Whether you want to add an arrow to your text or add it to a screenshot or an image, you can take the help of Google Drawing to do the same as shown below:

Step 1: Open the Google Docs document where you want to insert the arrow.

Step 2: Click Insert, then Draw and New.

Step 6: Alternatively, if you want to add advanced arrows, click on the Shape icon in the top toolbar and select Arrows from the menu. Select the desired arrow from the available options. Click or manually draw the arrow on the canvas.

Step 7: Once you are satisfied, click the Save and Close button to insert the arrow into your document.

The arrow will be added to your document. You can resize or edit it just like any other image.

Method 4: How to make keyboard arrows in Google Docs with an alternative code
