Warframe has become a massive free-to-play game over the past ten years, consistently adding more and more to the third-person action RPG formula with new classes, game modes, and much more.
As the game is available on multiple platforms, cross-play is a necessary way for friends on console and PC to play together, but you need to know how it works. So, check out our explainer of Warframe cross-play, and information on the cross-save update.
How to link accounts & enable Warframe cross-play

Warframe cross-play allows players to join up with their friends across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
While it’s not necessary for cross-play, you may want to link your Warframe account by heading to the website, selecting your name in the top right, and clicking ‘Link your accounts!’.

To enable Warframe cross-play, you’ll instead need to load up the game and do the following:
- Select ‘Options’ on the main menu.
- Click the ‘System’ tab.
- Scroll down to ‘Cross Platform Play’ and ensure the tick icon is selected.
Now you can freely play with friends on other platforms, or players on matchmaking. Players on different platforms will have a small circular symbol next to their name to denote that they are cross-platform players.

After months of waiting, Digital Extremes revealed at TennoCon 2023 that cross-save is expected to launch in 2023, while also noting the technical challenges of account unification.
While your account is still restricted to the one platform you’ve been with from the start, eventually it appears the team will work to merge multiple accounts.
We’ll keep this section updated when we hear more news or a firm release date on the cross-save feature, but the team did say that they expect some under-the-hood updates to arrive with October 2023’s Abyss of Dagath update to prepare the game for cross-save.
