What would a photo editor be like without cropping? While all photo editors offer square or freeform cropping, almost none allow you to crop your images into a variety of shapes. Let alone the base crop in a circle.
Fortunately, several sites come to the rescue. Whether it’s an Instagram photo or your regular photo, graphics cut into distinct shapes like hearts, stars, ovals, etc. will give your photos a new look. However, not all photo editing websites offer that functionality.
Thankfully, we’ve done the hard work and present you five sites that can do just that. You don’t even need to register or create an account on any of them. Let’s check them out.
1. Tuxpi
Tuxpi is a simple but very useful website for cropping photos into various shapes. The process is also easy. There are no additional buttons or options for distraction. You click the Start photo editing button and the photo uploader will open. You are then taken directly to the shape editing screen.
The site offers 19 shapes like hearts, many stars, circles, polygons, etc. Fortunately, you can adjust the position of your image within the shape. You can also modify the background color and shadow color. Unfortunately, you cannot save images with a transparent background.
If you want, you can further edit your photo. You can add text, rotate, crop, resize and adjust brightness, saturation etc. Not only that, you can use other cool photo effects of the website and add them to the image. your shape using the Add Effect button.
2. IMGOnline
Another simple website is IMGOnline. The site offers over 100 different shapes, from simple ones like circles, hearts and arrows to complex ones like animals, birds, cars, phones, etc.
You may need to read this page to understand how it works the first time around. After selecting an image, you need to enter the shape type first, then you need to specify different settings for your shape. Finally, you can choose the output format from JPEG and PNG. It has the advantage that you can keep the background transparent.
Note:
While the site offers many other photo editing features, you cannot directly edit your photos. You need to download the image and then re-upload it to get the desired effect.
3. Plus
The site is similar to Tuxpi because you are provided with an upload button directly on the crop screen, which makes the work faster. You get about 20+ shapes at your disposal.
On this website you need to draw the figure and figure yourself. Do not misunderstand me. Once you select the shape, you need to draw it on your preferred area. You can easily change its size and position.
While the website may look like a match made from heaven, it has its downsides. First, cropping takes a long time compared to other sites, and the editing page is flooded with ads.
4. LunaPic
You may have used this site or heard its name. It’s a popular tool to remove the background and make it transparent. Here, however, we’ll be using it to crop our image into various shapes. The site offers four ways to crop your image — rectangle, square, freehand, and magic wand.
Similar to Oooo.plus, you need to draw on the image to crop it. Once you have drawn the selection, click the Crop option at the top. Your image will be cropped to a transparent background.
You can save the image or directly apply the various effects provided by the website to your new image.
5. Pixlr
Another free online photo editor that allows you to crop objects into various shapes is Pixlr. First, upload your image and then select the Cutout tool from the left pane. Select the shape tool and then select the shape of your choice. You are given five shapes – square, circle, triangle, star and heart.
Similar to some of the other sites mentioned above, you need to draw the shape in your preferred position manually. Once drawn, it will be extracted with a transparent background. You can save it directly or change its background.
Interestingly, you can even reverse cropped shapes. That way, the selected shape will be removed from your photo. Furthermore, the site also supports layers.
Extra Tip: Use Microsoft Word to Cut Shapes
If all the offline photo editors let you down and that’s the only reason to try an online editor, then we have to tell you that your beloved Microsoft Word allows you to crop photos to shapes.
For that, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open a new Microsoft Word document and insert the image into it.
Step 2: Then click the small down arrow present under the Crop tool (on the Format tab).
Step 3: From the menu, select Crop to Shape. Here select the shape of your choice.
Step 4: Right-click on the image and select Copy. Then paste the image into your photo editor. In case you are confused, check out our detailed guide.
Perfect picture
Hope you can crop your image to the desired shape. If the image doesn’t have a transparent background, you can remove it in Windows 10’s Paint 3D app or use an online tool. After doing that, you can add this shape on top of any image.
