Method 1: By Using the Wallpaper Resizer App
One of the best ways to make your whole picture fit as wallpaper on an iPhone is by using wallpaper resizer apps. These apps are free to use and allow you to change the image’s aspect ratio without cropping on the iPhone.
Moreover, these apps will allow you to customize the extra space by using a color of your choice, another image, or a blur effect, which gives it the look of a proper wallpaper. I will be using the Wallax app for this tutorial. Some other apps you can try are WallpaperSize: Resize & Fit and Wallpaper Size.
Step 1: Download and open the Wallax app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on the New button at the bottom and select the picture you want to fit as wallpaper.
Step 3: Tap on the Background button and choose the background. Once done, tap on the checkmark icon at the top.
Note: You can use black, white, or any other color. Or tap on Gradient to choose a gradient effect. Use the Blur option to blur the picture and use it as the background. You can also set any other image as the background by selecting the Image option.
Step 4: Tap on the Share icon and select Save Image from the Share sheet.
The image will be downloaded to the Photos app, where you can set it as your iPhone’s wallpaper.

Method 2: Convert a Picture to iPhone Wallpaper by Taking a Screenshot
This method lets you include the entire photo from side to side as your iPhone wallpaper. However, the drawback of this method is that it adds black bars at the top and bottom. If you are okay with that, follow these steps to make a picture fit wallpaper on your iPhone.
Step 1: Open the photo in the Photos app.
Step 2: Tap on the picture once so that the background turns black and other icons are hidden.
Step 3: Now, take a screenshot of the picture.
Step 4: The screenshot will be saved in the Photos app. Open the screenshot and set it as your wallpaper.

Method 3: By Changing the Aspect Ratio of the Picture
The Apple Photos app offers a native feature to change the aspect ratio of pictures. You must select a 9:16 aspect ratio to convert a picture to iPhone wallpaper.
Follow these steps to resize a photo for iPhone wallpaper:
Step 1: Open the picture in the Photos app.
Step 2: Tap on the Edit option at the top, followed by the Crop icon.
Step 3: Tap on the Aspect Ratio icon (three-box icon) and choose the Wallpaper aspect ratio. Now, adjust the image by dragging and zooming in to fit the wallpaper.
Step 5: Finally, tap on Done. The image will be cropped and saved in the wallpaper size of your iPhone.
Tips for this method:
- Since this method will crop or change the size of the original image to wallpaper size, you should duplicate the photo first. For that, tap on the three-dot icon on the original photo and select Duplicate. Then, make changes to the duplicate photo.
- If you have already changed the aspect ratio of the picture, don’t worry. Open the image and tap on Edit, followed by Revert. Then, select Revert to Original.

Method 4: Zoom Manually to Resize Photo for iPhone Wallpaper
If your iPhone wallpaper is zoomed in too much, you can manually zoom in or out while setting the wallpaper to make the picture fit the wallpaper on your iOS device.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Wallpaper and tap on Customize.
Step 2: Tap on Photo and select the picture you want to use as wallpaper.
Step 3: Using your thumb and first finger, make the pinch gesture (pinch in and out) to include more real estate of the picture as your wallpaper per your requirement. Also, drag the picture to change the area.
Step 4: Tap on Done, followed by Done again, to use the picture as your wallpaper.
Tip: On some pictures, you might see the Perspective zoom button (phone icon with diagonal arrows) at the bottom. Disable it to include the edges of the picture as well in your wallpaper.
Please note that you cannot fully include the entire landscape picture as wallpaper using this method.
