What is Loss in Dragon’s Dogma 2 & how to remove it?

As you journey through the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’re bound to take a few hits during your combat encounters and experience Loss – so I’m here to explain how Loss works in the game and the best ways for you to remove it.

Whether you’re playing as a Thief or a canny Archer, there are plenty of times when battle can get a little hairy, so learning how to navigate Loss is bound to come in handy.

What is Loss?

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Loss is effectively the amount of maximum health you lose alongside the damage you take during battles. Whenever you’re hit, you’ll see that the health bar will leave a grey line like the one below, which acts as the amount of health you can claim back with recovery items.

Whenever you die, this will also be the amount you will recover to once you respawn, so making sure you’re topped up during some of the more heated battles on offer in the game is essential. However, this is only a temporary reduction that can be easily removed.

To remove Loss, you’ll simply need to rest at a campsite or inn. Once you do, not only will you recover the amount of health you’ve lost during battle, but also the maximum health that had dwindled overall as a result of Loss.

If you find that your battles are getting far too lairy for your liking, it may be best to tactically retreat to a campfire, as above, so that you can reset and try again, especially if your Pawns are struggling with you.
