Now you’ve wrapped your head around your league’s work permit restrictions, it’s time to look towards how to get a work permit. When you sign a player from abroad, it will automatically apply for a work permit – if they fit into the rules above then you should be able to bring them easily but it isn’t always guaranteed and every time you apply it will cost £20,000 each time. You will also need fresh work permits whenever you renew a player’s contract.

If you do not get the work permit, but you are desperate to sign the player for the future – you can still sign them. Your best bet is to loan the player out, to another European League, and reapply for a fresh work permit six months later. Hopefully, they will now be eligible for a work permit.
