Cl1P.net is a beautiful web application that allows you to copy and paste data between two computers easily and quickly. By using this application you can transfer both plain text and rich text. Data transfer is a three-step process.
- Enter the URL starting with http://cl1p.net. Example http://cl1p.net/abcd
- Paste the text into the box given on the right.
- Open the same URL (in this case http://cl1p.net/abcd) on any other computer.
The tool can also encrypt data with a password and offers a nice browser bookmarklet.
Here is a guide to go through the steps.
1. Open Cl1p.net.
2. At the bottom of the page you will see a box with http://cl1p.net/ inside.
3. Enter any random text there. Since the service is new, you will most likely receive the link of your choice. For example, I typed abcd in the box and the link looks like http://cl1p.net/abcd. Now click on the “Show my cl1p” button.
4. It will redirect you to the page where you can copy your text inside. Write any text or copy some text in the given space. You can also enter the link. You need to switch to clickable (explained below) to make your link clickable.
Click the “Save” button. The text will be saved. This data will be available at cl1p servers for 7 days. You can extend the period up to 9 months.
5. On the right side you will find many small buttons. Each button gives you some unique options.
- Type: Choose between Plain Text and Rich Text.
- Optional: Provide a page title, password (to secure your site), email if password is lost.
- Size: Choose the size of the area where you can write your text. You can select up to 60 rows.
- Edit: Click this button to switch between edit mode and link mode.
- Print: Easily print text.
- Add-ons: Bookmarklet for current cl1p. Drag it on your browser’s bookmarks bar. Click it to open the current clip.
Now open this URL on another computer. The same data will appear on the other computer.
