Time and time again, we have seen many uses by which we can directly transfer files from one cloud storage service to another from our computer. However, there are times when you may need to quickly transfer a file from one service to another, and you may just have your Android in your pocket to help you.
So today we are going to see a brand new app called Rainbow with which you can transfer your files between cloud storage services directly from your Android device. However, before I start, I must say that this application is in the early stages of development and the functions are very basic. Even so, the developer has promised some great features in the upcoming releases.
Rainbow for Android
After you have installed the app, it will show you a list of cloud service providers that you can configure. Tap the ones you will use and provide your credentials to log in. You will be asked to agree to certain file management permissions for a successful service connection.
Since you can configure multiple accounts of the same service, make sure you use an explicit account alias to avoid confusion.
Currently, the app supports Bitcasa, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Pogoplug, OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) and SugarSync. The developer is currently conducting a poll on the XDA forums to include new user-selected services in future versions.
After you have configured all the accounts you want to manage with the app, open Data transmission tab to manage files.
You will find all the accounts you have configured in the Data Transfer tab. You will also find a section called Local and you can manage the data stored locally on your phone in this section. Tap any cloud account to see all the folders and files in it. However, the application does not support viewing files. You won’t even be able to see the thumbnails of the files for that matter.
When you tap on any file you will get only two options and that is Copy and Delete. The delete option moves the file to the online trash and frees up your space on the cloud drive, while the copy option copies the file to your device’s clipboard.
Now all you can do is paste the file into any other cloud service you have configured on your device. If you want to save the file to your smartphone’s internal storage so that it can be accessed offline, simply save the file to local storage. Your files will be transferred from the source service to the destination.
Application Operation – Points to note
There are several points to note about the application. Rainbow does not host any intermediate servers to download and transfer your files, and your smartphone becomes the point of contact between the services.
In a way, it is secure and none of your personal files are exposed to a third-party service, but it also means that the application uses your network connection to transfer files and thus That will cost you private bandwidth. Therefore, you should use a Wi-Fi connection unless absolutely necessary.

So that’s how you can easily transfer files from one cloud service to another and as long as you don’t have a data limit on your connection, there’s no limit on the number of files. you can switch by app. However, the application only supports exactly one file transfer and batch file/folder processing is not available. Also, the app only has a free version with ads with no option to upgrade to premium and remove ads. All in all, this is worth a try.
