How to Auto Switch Android Profiles Based on Time, Events and More

We’ve seen before how you can use a nifty app called Quick Profile on Android to manage ringer profiles, just like we used to on our old Nokia phones. The app solved the purpose but didn’t provide any advanced controls and changed configurations automatically based on events. Today, we will see a much more advanced application for switching profiles on Android.

Smart Settings Thumb

Smart Settings for Android is a brand new app, using this you can not only change your android configuration manually, but also create event and calendar based triggers time-based program to change them automatically. So let’s see how to use this app to create profiles and convert them automatically.

Configure Smart Settings

Download and install the Smart Settings app from the Play Store to get started. When you launch the app for the first time, you will see some pre-configured profiles like Normal, Airplane mode, Battery saver mode etc. Tap the little star icon next to the profile. will activate it instantly and all ringtones, wallpapers and radio settings will change instantly to the profile you choose.

If you don’t want to use the defaults and want to create your own profile, you can tap new button at the bottom. You will be asked to provide a name and description for the new profile. If you want to create a new profile from an existing one, you can tick the option Load current settings to ease your duties.

Now comes the best part – the option to change the configuration automatically based on events and time. In the Events tab, you can configure automatic configuration changes. One can use battery level and Wi-Fi hotspot connection to change them or create a time-based plan. Honestly, the battery- and Wi-Fi-based plans work fine, but honestly, the time-based option left me a bit flabbergasted.

Smart Android App

In the time-based option, you can schedule an entire day for your profile on a timeline. For example, if you arrive at the office at 11 a.m., you can configure it to be silent, make the cafeteria loud during your lunch break, and change it to normal when you leave the office. You can also mark the days you want to schedule configuration changes. If you have it configured for office purposes, just select the weekdays leaving the weekend.

You can create multiple time-based profiles, just make sure they don’t conflict with each other. App settings control notifications and app drawer icon settings for quick configuration switching.

Conclusion

Smart Settings is an impressive app and should probably be on every Android smartphone. With advanced configuration options combined with an easy interface, I feel that Smart Settings is the best Android app for managing user profiles. What did you say?
