2. Update Email on Instagram

Instagram users mainly rely on usernames and passwords to authenticate their identities. People mostly ignore their added email addresses. Step 1: Open Instagram on iPhone.

Step 2: Access your account by tapping the icon in the lower right corner and tapping the More menu in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Select Settings.

Step 4: Click on Account and open the Personal Info menu.

Step 5: Click Email.

Step 6: Add your new email address and press the Done button.

Instagram will ask you to confirm your new email address. Open your email inbox and confirm it.

3. Use strong passwords on Instagram

This is another basic trick to protect all your social media accounts. You should not use basic digits, your name, or your date of birth as a password. Create a strong password with a combination of numbers and special characters, and keep the password length to a minimum of 8 characters. 5. Check Instagram login activity

You can check your login details on Instagram and if you find any suspicious location or device, you can sign out of Instagram on that device.

Step 1: Open the Instagram settings menu (refer to the steps above).

Step 2: Tap Security.

Step 3: Select Login Activity.

Step 4: Check the device name, date and location.

Step 5: If any sign-in seems strange to you, tap the three-dot menu next to it and select sign out.

Instagram will log you out of the unknown device.

6. Reset third-party app access for your Instagram account

If you’ve connected your Instagram account to some third-party apps and services, it’s time to check the list and remove the apps you no longer use with Instagram.

Step 1: Open Instagram and go to settings (check the steps above).

Step 3: Select Apps and websites.
