But first, you have to ensure your PC is ready for Remote Play. Here’s how to do that.

Step 1: Launch the Steam client on your PC.

Step 2: Now, click on the Steam icon in the top left corner of the window and click on Settings.

How to Enable Remote Play on PS5

If you’re a PS5 owner, you can stream your favorite console games to your Steam Deck. However, there’s no official way to go about it, so we’ll have to use third-party tools. First up, set up your PS5 to stream games to the Steam Deck.

Here’s how to do that.

Note: Before moving on to the steps, ensure your PS5 is connected to the internet. Ideally, we recommend using an ethernet cable for gaming for the best performance and low latency.

Step 1: On your PlayStation 5, launch the Settings app from the home screen. You can do this by highlighting the gear icon in the top-right corner and pressing X on your PS5 controller.

Connect PS5 to Steam Deck Using Chiaki

Now that your PS5 is ready for Remote Play, it’s time to start the process on the Steam Deck. There are several things to keep in mind, though. First off, unlike a PC, PS5’s Remote Play only works as long as the console and the Steam Deck are on the same network.

Secondly, to connect to the PS5, we’ll use an open-source tool called Chiaki. However, to execute it on the Steam Deck, we must enter commands inside the Terminal. As such, we’d strongly recommend using a keyboard with the Steam Deck. You can also pair Bluetooth accessories to the Steam Deck for easier use.

Once done, here’s how to go about it. We have divided the steps into two parts. One discusses installing the Chiaki app, followed by connecting Steam Deck to PS5. Follow along.

Part 1: Install the Chiaki App

Step 1: To install Chiaki on your Steam Deck, switch to the Desktop Mode. To do this, press the power button on the system’s top and select Switch To Desktop.

Step 2: Now, launch the Discover app. It’s a marketplace to install apps onto your Deck.

Step 5: Now, launch the Chiaki app. You should see a PS5 icon indicating it can detect the PS5 on the same network as the Steam Deck.

Step 6: Now that Chiaki is installed, register it with your PS5. To do that, navigate to Applications Launcher > System > Konsole.

Step 7: Inside Konsole, type or copy-paste the below codes individually. Each command will take time to process, after which you can enter the next command.

Step 8: Once done, you’ll see a link inside the Konsole window. Right-click on it and select ‘Open Link’.

Step 11: Paste the copied URL inside the Konsole window and press Enter.

Step 13: Copy your account ID number. Next, launch the Chiaki app and click on the PlayStation icon.

Step 14: Enter the account ID number you copied into the ‘PSN Account-ID (base64)’ field in the Register Console window.

Step 15: You’ll also require a PIN to log in. This will be provided by your PS5. To find it, head to Settings > System > Remote Play > Link Device. Your PS5 should show a numeric code to set up Remote Play.

Use Chiaki to Play PS5 Games on Steam Deck

With Chiaki set up on your Steam Deck, you can easily play PS5 games on your Steam Deck with the help of Remote Play. However, this will work while in the Desktop Mode. To use Chiaki inside the Gaming Mode, you must first add it as a Non-Steam Game. Here’s how to do that.

Step 1: While in the Desktop Mode, launch the Steam application.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Add a Game’ option in the bottom-left corner and select ‘Add a Non-Steam Game’.
