Share Evernote Notes on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

Evernote Sharing IconEvernote is certainly one of the best ways to stay abreast with your notes on multiple devices like computers, smartphones and even on the web interface. Not only does the tool work as an individual solution but it’s also great for group noting and collaboration.

I say that because you can easily share your Evernote notebooks with individuals and groups without actually having to worry about moving the contents to another cloud based service.

While sharing an entire notebook is one aspect, it is also interesting to know that we can share a standalone note with our social contacts. The basic element to this is creating public note links that makes a note available on the web. What’s even better is that the link can be shared directly on your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles. Here’s how to do that.

Steps to Share a Note on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

Besides, doing a direct share of the public link you may also wish to share it externally. But why do that when you can cut down the steps.

Step 1: Log in to your Evernote account either on a device or on the internet. I tried it on my online account.

Step 2: On the main interface, expand the Personal Notebooks section on the left pane. Then, click on the notebook that holds the note you wish to share.

Step 3: That would pull up all notes contained in the selected notebook. Now, click on the note that needs to be shared.

Step 4: This brings up the note on the right pane along with some tools to perform actions. Towards the top right you will see an arrow-like icon. Click on that to check out the available options.

Step 5: Choose a service among Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I tried the activity with all of them. Evernote will ask your final go on the share and also allow you to put your comments on it.

Note: If you are doing this for the first time you will have to give application permissions and key in your profile credentials.

That’s it, the moment you hit Share your note will become live and available to all those you can see the link.

How to Stop Sharing a Note

If you have messed up something or want to remove the note any time in future you have two options:-

  1. You can delete the note link from your profile. In this case the public link still remains active while the thread you shared will be removed.
  2. You can stop the sharing of note from Evernote completely. In this case the public link is killed and the threads you shared will take a viewer to a Note Unavailable page.

To stop sharing a note, log in to your Evernote account, navigate to the respective note and click on the Shared icon placed besides a note.

On the next screen you should click on the Stop Sharing button. That’s all you need to do to make a public note personal again.

Conclusion

The social arena demands such integration with services. And fortunately, many services are accepting and offering features. Though we can devise workarounds to imitate such scenarios, it is always good to use it in an embedded form, isn’t it?
