As shown in the Xbox Games Showcase trailer, the Persona 5 Tactica release date is Friday, 17 November 2023.
The time from announcement to release is quite short compared to other Persona 5 spin-offs like Persona 5 Strikers, which was fully revealed back in April 2019 and wasn’t first released in Japan until almost a year later in February 2020.

Persona 5 Tactica will be launched on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam systems – as well as coming to Xbox Game Pass on November 17.
Although initially only confirmed for Xbox and PC, Atlus later confirmed that the game will also come to Steam, Nintendo, and PlayStation platforms.

As part of the Xbox Games Showcase, the initial Persona 5 Tactica Announcement trailer shows the Phantom Thieves being taken to an alternate world oppressed by the villainous Legionnaires, soon teaming up with freedom fighters to take on and defeat the new tyrannical foes.

During Gamescom 2023, ATLUS revealed a new Persona 5 Tactica gameplay trailer – going into more detail about the game’s grid-and-turn-based battle mechanics and its special features like Triple Threat, difficulty levels, Baton Pass, skill trees, pre-order bonuses and the Challenge Pack.

The story of Persona 5 Tactica takes place during Persona 5, seemingly after the main events but before the game’s ending, though still before the Persona 5 Strikers in the timeline – which takes six months after P5 during summer vacation.
As first revealed by a translation of the game’s Japanese website by Gematsu, Persona 5 Tactica takes the Phantom Thieves to a medieval Europe-themed world like the main game’s metaverse. Faced with a mysterious tyrannical military group, Joker and his crew find themselves aided by “Elle the Revolutionary” from Rebel Core – who appear to be the freedom fighters of this world.
As a bonus, we also now know that Lyn Inaizumi, the Japanese jazz and soul vocalist whose voice appeared on the soundtracks of every Persona 5 game so far, is back in Persona 5 Tactica – as fans can likely tell hearing the game’s opening that’s played during the announcement trailer: “Revolutionize Your Heart”.

Yes, Persona 5 Tactica will be turn-based, specifically with gameplay honing on turn-based grid strategy. Utilising your Personas, weapons, and items in parties of three – along with the new “Triple Threat” All-Out Attack.
Persona 5 Tactica will see you take on both monsters and the evil group’s boss – who appears to be a new spin of the original games’ Shadow bosses – this time dressed as a bride that can also seem to control members of the Phantom Thieves themselves.

Alongside the turn-based combat and All-Out Attacks, Persona 5 Tactica gameplay brings in a variety of extra mechanics to overcome the game’s powerful enemies; like those launched by the Sumo-maton, the beautiful-yet-deadly Guarded Geisha, and the Slimy Shinobi which dispatches clones across the battlefield.
For instance, in P5T’s grid-based battles, you can utilise elements like Dash Square to gain the upper hand by leaping across elevated parts of the various stages you play through – maybe even using explosive barrels to deliver extra damage.
Then, there’s the use of Personas, or in this case, Sub-Personas. With each Phantom Thief able to have a Sub-Persona equipped to boost their stats, you’ll also be able to strategise based on active and passive skills to create the perfect character and Sub-Persona combos.
Finally, to help you beat some of Persona 5 Tactica’s extra high difficulty levels comes the new ability to craft weapons through Persona fusion. Alongside standard fusions to create new Persona, you’ll get the bonus advantage of being able to create all kinds of unique weaponry superior to what you can buy in shops.
In order to beat Persona 5 Tactica at its hardest difficulty levels, including those where you could damage your own party with wide-range attacks, you’ll need to harness all of the above trying different strategies to bring the Phantom Thieves victory.
