Mohammed Shami’s father was a farmer and owned a spare part shop. His mother is a homemaker.

According to him, his father w as the only person who realised his true potential as a bowler and persuaded him to give the sport a try.

Mohammed Shami Biography

Mohammed Shami was born on 3 September 1990 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India.

It was his father who spotted the talent in Shami, and took him to a renowned coach in Moradabad. He practiced like a workhorse under the watchful eyes of Badruddin Siddiqui.

Mohammed Shami has four siblings and all of them wanted to become a fast bowler in their early days.

He married Hasin Jahan on 6 June 2014. 

He has a child named Aaira Shami.

He has shown incredible performances in his career so far. He has played in four IPL franchises so far and currently plays for Kings XI Punjab.

Mohammed Shami started playing at the age of fifteen, he failed to garner a spot in Uttar Pradesh Under-19s team and shifted his base to Kolkata. He played for the Dalhousie club where he caught the eye of Debabrata Das, who sent him to Mohun Bagan Club. His skills impressed Sourav Ganguly and in 2010 he made his first class debut for the Bengal team against Assam.

Shami was roped in by Delhi Capitals in 2014 and he stayed in the team for 2015. In 2018, he was bought again by Delhi Capitals and the next year Kings XI Punjab bought him, he became the highest wicket taker of the team.

Shami was selected for Indian National Cricket team in 2013 because of his exceptional domestic performance. In 2014, he took a lot of wickets becoming the second fastest Indian cricketer to take 50 wickets in ODIs. He continued performing brilliantly well in his ODI career and became the fastest to take 100 ODI wickets.

His test debut was in the same year as his ODI debut, he took 9 wickets in his debut, which is most by a fast bowler on debut. He made his T20I debut in 2014 against Pakistan and took his maiden wicket. Shami never played a lot of T20I, having made only seven T20I appearances.

 As of 2023, Mohammad Shami’s estimated net worth is close to 47 crore rupees or $6 million.
