Ken Burns Awards: Born on July 29, 1953, Ken Burns, officially known as Kenneth Lauren Burns is an American filmmaker.

He developed a passion for film-making at a younger age, has been consistent throughout his career, and has become one of the most sought-after filmmakers.

Burns is known for his documentary films and television series, many of which chronicle American history and culture.

His work includes; The Civil War, Baseball, Jazz, The War, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, Prohibition, The Roosevelts, The Vietnam War, and Country Music.

Burns’s work is often produced in association with WETA-TV and/or the National Endowment for the Humanities and distributed by PBS.

His documentaries have won several Emmy Awards and have earned two Academy Award nominations (for 1981’s Brooklyn Bridge and 1985’s The Statue of Liberty)
