Make Rooted Android 4.0+ Phone Look Like Android Lollipop

Lollipop 1600

So Android L 5.0 is officially called Lollipop. It’s not a name I would choose but again, I don’t work for Google. Thankfully, there’s a lot to look forward to in Lollipop. Includes a brand new design language, much faster performance, and the promise of (finally) smooth scrolling.

But this is Android. Lollipop is now available for Nexus devices and will be available to Motorola and higher-end HTC phones soon. But that still leaves hundreds of Android handsets out. Basically, you have to leave it to your manufacturer or service provider when updating.

So while you may not be able to bask in the glory of all things Lollipop yet, there’s still a way to fake it. Hey, pretend until you succeed, right? Lollipop is a visual change. And if skin is what you’re after, you can get it by changing the launcher, icons, fonts, startup animations, and keyboard. Some of that stuff requires you to be root but if you’re here, I’m assuming you’re rooted and ready to go.

1. Lollipop Keyboard (No Root Required)

This is the easiest way to install. Lollipop keyboard does not require you to flash a zip. It’s just an APK that can be installed as long as you have Unknown sources activate word Privacy inner part Setting.

Download the APK and install it. Open the app and follow the instructions to enable the keyboard. The important part is to access the Lollipop Keyboard app once enabled and switch to Light/Dark Design Materials word theme Appearance otherwise the keyboard will look like the pre-Lollipop update.

2. Download and set wallpaper

With the new release of Android, sweet new wallpapers are coming. Check out all available Lollipop wallpapers here.

3. Download Android Camera 5.0 APK

Android Lollipop’s Camera app looks and works just like the Google Camera app we talked about before. It is also available as a downloadable APK file. While root access is not required to use the app, users are reporting the issue frequently on non-rooted devices.

4. Google Now Launcher 5.0 (Need root)

If you’re using the Google Now Launcher on your phone, this won’t be a big change for you. Download the zip file and flash it via recovery of your choice.

After flashing the zip I updated the launcher with a new white Google Search bar but it seems to have bugs. Also, the sweet new icons from Lollipop are not included in the pack. Multiple copies of the updated Google Now Launcher are available here.

5. Google Play Store 5.0

The Google Play Store has been updated to version 5.0 with a flat interface and material design. If you haven’t received the update yet, download the APK from here.

6. Try the new Roboto font

The Roboto font in Lollipop got a small update. Now it’s a bit sharper. While the difference isn’t immediately obvious, subtle upgrades make the new fonts much easier to read. Download the flashable zip from here.
