Audible is one of the popular audiobook platforms. For such a popular app, Audible’s interface is rather confusing and basic. When I installed and launched it to test the service, I found it missing a few important features, especially for iOS users. That’s why a lot of users, like me, can’t find or view favorites on the Audible app.
Wishlists are a cool feature that you’ll also find on Amazon’s eCommerce site. It’s a useful feature that can help you create a cache of books that you might want to read in the future. Learn where Audible wishlists are located, how they work, and what else you may or may not do with them.
Where is my audio favorites list
Android users need to open the Audible app and tap the three-dot menu icon on the left to select the Store button.
That will reveal other options and Wish List is one of them. Click it to see the wish list.
The listenable wishlist isn’t available on iOS, and there’s no dedicated desktop app. Many users have complained about it but still no luck. Maybe in a future update. I don’t like the iOS app at all. I signed in with the same Amazon ID as on Android, and for some reason Audible treated it as a brand new ID, asking me to sign up. I didn’t sign up twice.
Another workaround is to use a browser to log in and find the book you want to listen to. Not the best solution but still works.
Speaking of the browser, you can easily access the Wishlist right at the top in the title area. Easy to find and easy to reach.
How many wish lists can you create?
You cannot create more than one favorites list on Audible. All you have to do to create a favorites list is add a book, any book, to the favorites list (more on that in the next section). Amazon allows users to create multiple wish lists on its eCommerce platform but not on Audible. Very strange. Most users don’t need two lists to manage audiobooks unless you share your Audible account with someone. In that case, it becomes necessary. Does Amazon need to pay attention to this feature?
How to add titles to favorites
Adding titles to favorites works the same way on both web and mobile apps. Take a look at the browser first. Tap the title to open it and select the Add to wishlist button. You’ll find it just below the purchase options.
You’ll see a blue button that says In Wish List if the book has been added to the list. That selection won’t remove the title from the list as I expected. Instead, it takes me to the Wish List menu. Again, a weird UI choice.
The same steps will apply to Android and iOS apps. Open the book title and tap the desired Add button and you’re done. Interestingly there is an option to add to favorites list in iOS but there is no way to access the list later.
How to remove titles from favorites
Open your Android favorites list to find a list of all the titles you’ve added.
Tap the three-dot menu icon next to the book you want to delete to bring up a pop-up menu bar with a Delete button. Click on it to delete the book.
The Remove from Wish List button is easily visible in the case of the browser. It’s right next to the book.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible at the moment. You cannot share Audible wishlists. There’s no way to share even a book I like with someone directly other than texting them their name. He/she will then have to manually search for the book. It would be a lot easier if I could recommend a book or maybe just share a link to it from the app itself. It’s on my wish list, not Amazon’s. Additionally, you cannot link your Audible account with Goodreads to share updates on your listening activities and rate and recommend books to friends.
How to arrange an audible wish list
Any books you add to favorites are added by date. So the last added book will appear at the top of the list. You can see the date the book was added just before the Price column in the browser.
Click the Date Add Text button to sort the books added first or last. There is no other way to sort them like rating, release date or any other way.
The mobile apps don’t even have that option, which simply means you can’t organize books in the iOS or Android apps.
Your wish is my commander
Audible’s favorites list feature is a mess. It works best in Android while the iOS version leaves much to be desired. Even the Android version is doable with some improvements like the ability to share, create multiple lists, etc. But there’s not much we can do but ask Amazon and Audible to improve the feature and wait. Until then, do with what you have or use an alternative like Scribd.
