Every website needs an email address. Whether for communication purposes or just a professional and “official” address associated with the domain. Or maybe you have contributors to your website who want personal contacts. Whatever the purpose, Outlook.com offers a free solution. You can create multiple email accounts for any domain and log into them via Outlook web client or any other desktop client software just like you would with individual email accounts .
To set up an Outlook.com mail account with your domain, you first need to verify the domain is yours for modification. This is done in a few steps which we will explain below. After a while, you’ll be able to sign in to your new account and start sending and receiving mail.
How to set up domain mail with Outlook.com
Step 1: Visit this link to set up Outlook.com for your domain.
Enter your domain name not included http://www. and then select the first bubble option to Set up Outlook.com for my domain.
Step 2: Continue to assign a domain administrator to this new account. This can be done by signing in to an existing Microsoft account or creating a completely new account.
We will choose the first option to use an existing account. The page will redirect to the normal login screen.
Step 3: The next step is to prove domain ownership (GuidingTech.com in this case) so Outlook knows you are allowed to use the domain with its service.
Note: We will use GoDaddy.com to demonstrate such verification using the details Outlook provides as necessary to complete this task. The following steps will vary depending on the hosting service you have.
In your account settings, find a section for DNS zone file, or something similar in name. We will choose Editor in this section so we can make the changes Outlook requires.
The only required step in the verification process is the MX record. This record is a long string next to MX . server section, like in this image. We’ll also need a few other values here:
Back in the domain settings, we’ll click Quick add in GoDaddy to add the necessary information. more Priority number as specified from Outlook, as well as Host name and MX . Server rope.
If there is an option for TTL (Time To Live), also fill out here. Ours will be 1 houras it says from Outlook.
Save changes with the button on the top right that says Save region file. Confirm with prompt.
Changes can take 1-48 hours to complete.
Step 4: To ensure that the mail server and domain name are trusted, we will go back to Outlook and find Trusted server to learn what it takes to create a TXT record.
Enter the details of the GoDaddy TXT record in TXT recording part.
Save and confirm the changes.
Step 5: Once the appropriate time has passed for the verification to complete, you can ensure this by clicking Quicken button back to domain settings page in Outlook. Status will change to Positive when the mail server is read to be used.
Step 6: Now you can add an account to the server to create a personal email address. Go to your domain from this link and click member account on the side of the page. Select Add to start adding a new account.
The account name part value leads to: [email protected].So in our example, the result of entering Jon will be the email address [email protected]. Fill in the rest of the information for the account and check the last box to request a password change when logging in for the first time.
Note: You can add up to 50 email accounts to your domain using Outlook.
Each account will show up in member account to easily edit or delete a section.
Step 7: Verify the account is active by signing in with the address in Outlook using this link, or add the address to the client on your iOS device or desktop. You will be asked to confirm your password and set up a security question and answer to recover your account in case you forget your password.

It’s nice to have a free service that can provide multiple addresses. As you have noticed, the setup process is quite simple and quick. The only side effect is that the verification wait time can take more than a day. Still, the fact that you get up to 50 free accounts is great – especially for smaller companies or individuals.
