How to Map Multiple Cloud Backup Services as a Network Drive

So far, we’ve discussed many cool tools to access services like Dropbox, SugarSync, and Google Docs right from your Windows explorer. All services use different tools and therefore a person needs to switch from one tool to another if he uses these services simultaneously.

However, Otixo is a great web service that allows you to connect most popular cloud backup services under one umbrella and access them all in one place by mapping them as network drives.

Let’s see how to set it up.

Step 1: To get started, go to Otixo and sign up for a basic user account.

Step 2: Once you have successfully created an account, log in to Otixo and connect to one of the many available cloud storage services. Some of the popular cloud storage services available are Dropbox, SugarSync, Google Docs, and Picasa.

Step 3: To connect to a service, simply click on the thumbnail, name the service an alias, authenticate your account credentials, and authorize all the application requests Otixo requires.

Once you’ve connected all the necessary services, it’s time to map them as network drives.

Note: In this article, I will show you how to map a drive in Windows 7, but you can also try and implement it on other operating systems.

Step 1: Open Computer and select Map Network Drive from the toolbar located just below the address bar containing organization properties, system, etc.

Step 2: In the Map Network Drive window, first select the drive letter you want to use. In the directory, enter https://dav.otixo.com and check the box Reconnect at logon and press the button to complete.

Voila, you can now access many of the same cloud services as other files and folders on your computer right from Windows Explorer.

Note: For the free account, Otixo has a bandwidth usage limit of 250MB per month. You can buy a premium plan or you can invite people to use Otixo. If they sign up for an account and use Otixo, you’ll get a gift of 25MB of free monthly bandwidth credits.

Conclusion

I have to say, the concept is impressive and the easy accessibility is admirable. We’d definitely like to hear your views on the service in the comments section.
