Whether you’ve switched from iPhone to Android (or vice versa) or upgraded to a new phone from the same operating system, your primary concern is to move all your data safely. While doing that, the note-taking app might confuse you. You may be wondering how to transfer notes from old phone to new phone. Of course, you won’t be retyping each note. Transfer Notes from Android to Android
Transferring notes from one Android phone to another depends on the note-taking app you’re using. If you’re running stock Android, your phone will most likely include the Google Keep app. However, if you are having a custom version of Android, such as devices from OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc., they may have note-taking apps in addition to Google Keep. The process is different in both cases.

Google Keep is a free note-taking app that runs on all Android phones. It is available on iOS devices and also has a web version. Now, if your notes are stored in Google Keep, you’re in luck as it doesn’t take any extra effort.
Meaning, all you need to do is download the Google Keep app on your new Android phone and sign in to the same Google account you were using on the first device. Yes, you don’t need to create a new account to use Google Keep on a new device. If sync is enabled on the second phone (more on that below), all your notes from the first phone including any media will show up on the new phone.
However, on both phones, you need to check that sync is enabled for Google Keep. If it’s off, the notes won’t show up on other devices.
To enable sync for Google Keep, open the app. You’ll find a message saying that sync is off, along with an option to turn it on. Tap Turn on sync.

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Accounts or Sync.
Step 2: Tap Google followed by the account name. Some phones list the Google account directly. Touch it.
Step 3: Tap Sync Accounts and then toggle the switch for Keep Notes.
Repeat the steps on your new phone. Wait a while for the notes to sync.

Transfer notes from other apps to your new phone
If you use the pre-installed note-taking app (not Google Keep), chances are this process will be easy. That’s because most of these note-taking apps are limited to their brands only.
Take the case of the Mi phone. The Mi Note app is only available on Mi devices. If you’re switching between two Mi phones, you’ll get some respite. All you need to do is activate Mi Cloud to take notes. Then, sign in with the same Mi account on your new phone. The notes will sync automatically.
The same goes for phones from other brands. If cloud sync is available, you can easily switch to a new phone from the same brand. The only requirement is that you need to use the same account.
However, if you’re switching to another brand, such as Samsung, you’ll have to manually transfer your notes to a cross-platform note-taking app first. Then you need to download the latest app on your phone and sign in with the same account. One of the best, free apps you can use is Google Keep.

To move notes to Google Keep, launch your existing note-taking app and open any note. Tap the Send or Share button and select Google Keep from the list. Repeat the steps for all notes.
It’s important to mention that while phones from different brands may have a ‘Notes’ app, it’s never the same app unless their icons are the same. If you see two different icons, they are definitely separate apps even if they have the same name. Keep in mind that there is no universal or standard note-taking app for Android, unlike iOS. The closest thing is Google Keep.

Everything seems easy if you’re switching between iPhones. That’s because they have a standard Notes app available on all iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). So if you’re using that app, then sign in with the same Apple ID on your new phone. After you do that, the notes from the old phone will be available on the new phone.
However, make sure that iCloud for Notes is turned on. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings and tap on your name.
Step 2: Tap on iCloud. The switch next to Notes should be green.
Step 3: Open the Notes app and make sure your notes are under the iCloud label. If they appear under the ‘On this device’ label, move them to iCloud.

Transfer Notes from Android to iPhone
To move your notes from Android to iOS, you must use a cross-platform note-taking app like Google Keep, Evernote, Nimbus Notes, etc. For cross-platform apps, you need to sign in with the same account. and data will be synchronized.
If you’re using an app that isn’t available on iOS, you’ll need to manually transfer your notes to a cross-platform app. Then, download the new app on your iPhone and sign in with the same account. Your note will appear there.
Alternatively, if the existing notes app has a web version, you can copy-paste notes from that app into iCloud Notes. It’s another way to transfer notes to your iPhone.
Transfer Notes from iPhone to Android
If you’re using a cross-platform app, such as Google Keep, Simple Note, Evernote, etc., you’re already familiar with the need to sign in to the app on your Android phone with the same account details.
However, if you are already using the pre-installed Notes app by Apple, there are three ways to transfer them to Android. First, install Google Keep on your iPhone, then share each note from the Apple Notes app with Google Keep. Finally, install Google Keep on your Android device.
