Many of us in the US subscribe to Comcast Xfinity for cable, Wi-Fi, and or home phone service. Unfortunately, because Comcast has an inevitable monopoly in many areas, many of us also have to deal with Xfinity issues. The good news is that you don’t always need to call Comcast customer support every time you have a problem with your service.

Comcast actually has an app called Xfinity My Account for iOS and Android. In addition to the ability to pay bills and manage services, it also has a useful troubleshooting feature for problems you may encounter. Whether your Wi-Fi isn’t working or your cable is down, you can take steps and even fix the problem right from the app.
Xfinity TV problem
If you’re having trouble with your Comcast Xfinity TV service, you can tap television in the My Account app to see a list of available troubleshooting options.
Note: If you have multiple TVs connected to your Xfinity receiver in your home, you must first select the TV that you want to service.
When I upgraded to Xfinity X1 service for the first time, I frequently had the problem of the cable box hanging for no reason. I often use this My Account app to quickly restart apps, you can still do this here by tapping Restart this device.
If your problem is a bit more complicated, you can press troubleshoot instead of. It will first ask you what the problem seems to be. The request may not work, your cable box is acting strange, or you have an error message. Either way, you can choose the problem and Comcast will automatically try and resolve it for you. It will ask if the back-end services did the trick, and if not, you can proceed with the troubleshooting.
In the end, most basic problems can be resolved by restarting the device, but you can also schedule an appointment for repair if needed. You can always watch some movies and TV shows online for free while you wait.
Xfinity Internet and Wi-Fi Problems
If you are having problems with the Internet or Wi-Fi, the amount of troubleshooting that can be done in the app is a bit less than problems on the TV. In the Internet tab, you can tap Device reboot to restart your router. Believe it or not, this simple trick can actually solve a lot of connection problems.
If not, you can press Common problems & solutions for a helpful list of frequently asked questions, answers, and instructions. It’s less intuitive than Comcast which can only remotely fix problems automatically, but it’s still useful if you’re willing to read through and have the ability to do the work yourself.

It’s important to remember that sometimes the problem you’re having isn’t just with your home. That’s why as soon as you open the My Account app, Comcast will let you know if there are any outages in your area that could affect the quality of service. If this is the case, you may not be able to fix the problems, but they are usually resolved within a few hours.
