Telegram is one of the most feature-rich instant messaging apps. When you look at its competition (mostly WhatsApp and Signal), Telegram is way ahead of them. That is mainly due to its features like Chat Folders, Secret Chats, Group Polls, etc. One feature Telegram has recently added to its arsenal is the ability to split share the screen with others.
The Screencast feature is available on both mobile and desktop versions of Telegram. With it, you can show your phone or PC screen to up to 1000 people at a time. Read along to learn how to use it.
If you’re on Android, here’s how you can share your screen with any individual on Telegram.
Step 1: Launch the Telegram app on your phone and open the chat of the person you want to share the screen with.
Step 2: Tap the call button at the top to initiate the call. Once connected, tap the Start Video button at the bottom.
Step 3: Telegram will ask you to choose from Rear Camera, Front Camera and Phone Screen. Select the Phone screen option and tap the Share Video button. Tap Get Started when prompted.
After a while, you’ll see a message that says ‘You’re sharing your screen’. The participant will now see your screen. You can press the Stop Video button at any time if you don’t want to share the screen anymore.
Similarly, you can share your screen with multiple people at the same time while on a group video call on Telegram. This is the way.
Step 1: Launch Telegram app on your phone and open a group chat.
Step 2: Tap the group name at the top.
Step 3: Now, use the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select the option Start Video Chat. Tap Start Video Chat again from the pop-up menu.
Step 4: Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Screen Sharing. Tap Get Started when prompted.
And that’s about it. Now all the call participants can see your screen.
If you’re using an iPhone, screen sharing works the same here. This is the way.
Step 1: Launch the Telegram app on your iPhone and open an individual’s chat.
Step 2: Tap the person’s name at the top. Now use the Call icon to make a call.
Step 3: Once connected, tap on Camera option and Telegram will ask you to choose from Rear Camera, Front Camera and Phone Screen. Select the Phone screen option and then tap Continue.
Step 4: Select Start Broadcast when prompted.
Wait for the three-second timer to complete and your screen will be visible to others.
You can also share your screen with up to 1000 people at once in a Group video call on Telegram. This is the way.
Step 1: Open Group chat on Telegram. Tap the group name at the top and select the Voice chat option to initiate a group call.
Step 2: Wait for the other person to join the call. Next, tap the Video button at the bottom left. Select Phone Screen and tap Continue to share your Screen. Tap Start Broadcast when prompted.
In a group video call, up to 30 participants can share their screen with about 1000 spectators at the same time.
If you are using Telegram app on PC, here is how you can share your PC screen during Telegram video call.
Step 1: Open Telegram on your PC. Open the chat of the person you want to share the screen with. Tap the call icon in the top right corner to initiate a call.
Step 2: After the call connects, click the Screencast button at the bottom.
Step 3: Telegram will ask who you want to share your screen with. You can select one of the active windows or choose to share the entire screen.
Finally, press the Share Screen button.
Step 1: Launch Telegram app on your PC and open a group chat. Click the Video Chat option at the top right.
Step 2: Click Continue to continue.
Step 3: Wait for the other person to join the call. Now use the three-dot menu at the top left to select the Screen Sharing option.
Step 4: Next, select a screen and press the Share Screen button. Optionally, you can also tick the checkbox to share system audio.
Whether it’s the option to create and use bots or the ability to secretly chat with Secret Chats, Telegram offers a host of features that WhatsApp doesn’t have. And with such rapid growth, Telegram certainly seems to have competitors running for their money.
