Instagram keeps adding a lot of chat features for its users. Along with individual chats, you can also make a group chat on Instagram to interact with your entire group of friends simultaneously. Besides text messages, you can also start a video call in your Instagram chats.
And you can also use the screen-sharing feature for video calls on Instagram. In this post, we will show you how to share your screen on Instagram on your mobile and desktop.
Let us begin by showing you the steps to use the screen-sharing feature of Instagram on your iPhone or Android phone. Ensure your mobile runs the latest Instagram app. The steps remain the same for iPhone and Android.
Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android.
Step 2: Tap the Messages icon at the top-right corner to access your chats.
Step 3: Open the chat and tap the Camera icon at the top-right corner to start your video call.
Step 4: Tap the Screen Share icon at the bottom Menu Bar.
Step 5: Select Screen Share at the bottom.
Step 6: Tap on Start Broadcast (iPhone) or Start Now (Android) to share your screen.
After you leave the video call screen in the Instagram app, your phone screen will start sharing your contact.
To stop screen sharing, go back to Instagram and tap Stop Sharing.
Since you access your Instagram profile from your Mac or Windows PC, you also get the option to share your computer screen. Just ensure you have a strong internet connection so there is no lag while you share your screen.
Step 1: Open the web browser on your computer and go to instagram.com.
Step 2: Sign in to your account.
Step 3: Click on Messages from the left menu.
Step 4: Open the chat and click the Camera icon at the top-right corner to start the video call.
Do note that the video calling feature of Instagram might not work in the Safari browser. We suggest using Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge for the same.
Step 5: Once the call is in progress, click the Screen Sharing icon at the bottom.
Step 6: Select which portion of your desktop screen to share and click on Share at the bottom-right side to confirm.
To stop screen sharing, click on Stop Sharing at the bottom.
If you can’t share your screen during Instagram video calls, here are some troubleshooting methods to fix the issue on your iPhone or Android phone.
1. Check Your Internet Connection
We suggest switching from Mobile Data to Wi-Fi, if possible. You need a strong internet connection to share your screen without any hiccups. We also suggest connecting to a 5GHz frequency band in case you have a dual-band router.
2. Check App Permissions
You need to check whether the Instagram app has been allowed the required permissions for screen sharing on your mobile device.
Check on iPhone
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Instagram.
Step 3: Check whether the app has been allowed Microphone and Camera access.
Step 4: Close the Settings app and check if the problem is solved.
Check on Android
Step 1: Long-press the Instagram app icon and tap on App Info.
Step 2: Select Permissions.
Step 3: Check if Camera and Microphone permissions are allowed.
Step 4: After enabling them, close App Info and check if the problem is solved.
3. Force Quit and Relaunch Instagram
This will give the Instagram app a fresh start on your iPhone and Android.
On Android
Step 1: Long-press the Instagram app icon and tap on App Info.
Step 2: Tap on Force Stop and select Ok to confirm.
Step 3: Close App Info and relaunch Instagram to check if the problem is solved.
On iPhone
Step 1: On the home screen, swipe up and hold to reveal the background app windows.
Step 2: Swipe right to look for Instagram and swipe up to remove the app.
Step 3: Relaunch Instagram to check if the problem is solved.
