How to Set and Manage Reminders on Evernote Notes

While notes help you stay on top of the tasks you’re working on, Evernote doesn’t have a single important feature that makes people use to-do lists/task managers with it. That may not be the case anymore as Evernote now has a reminder, yes, an ‘important’ feature to allow it to act like a real to-do list.

Note: This feature is now rolling out to Mac, iOS, and web components. Evernote promises that it will be available for other platforms soon, like Windows and Android.

We’ll take a closer look at this feature in Evernote’s web interface to understand its new capabilities. If you own apps on your device, you should explore them in a similar way.

To start adding reminders, you first need to have a note. Once you’ve selected the note, you can activate it by tapping the clock-like icon at the top right of the interface. While doing that, you will also be able to associate the date and time with the reminder.

The real beauty lies in the arrangement of the reminders. Each notebook has its own reminder section as shown in the image below.

To check all reminders at once, you can navigate to All notes. Besides, you can rearrange and order the reminders easily through drag and drop.

Once you’ve completed a task, you can simply mark it complete by ticking. Also clicking on the clock icon will allow you to edit the note reminder.

App and email notifications are an added advantage. In the same context, when you add a reminder for the first time, you will be asked if you want to receive email notifications.

You can choose which reminders show up in the reminders section. Click on the settings icon and choose from sorted, upcoming and completed flavors.

Another thing you need to take care of is the time zone you want to be notified about. Navigate to Evernote settings and select Reminders from the left pane. Then select the desired time zone. Here you can also enable/disable email notifications.
