I know, it sounds scary, but what’s even scarier is that the ‘restore’ or ‘reopen last session’ button doesn’t appear after reopening Chrome. What do you do?

Don’t worry, we have an easy fix for you. No matter if you accidentally close the browser or it crashes, this will definitely help you.

How to restore Chrome tab after crash?

Start your Chrome after it was accidentally turned off, and if you don’t see a ‘restore’ option marked below the address bar, go to the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your browser.

Find ‘History’ in the menu and hover over it. A drop-down menu will appear with the number of tabs that you have visited.

When our browser stops working, we have 3 tabs open. So in the image below you will see a ‘3 tabs’ option on the drop-down menu — the number of tabs depends on how many tabs you had open at the time of the problem.

Clicking on ‘3 tabs’ will launch the collection tabs that were opened before the crash, saving you time and effort to access the history and open all the tabs one by one.

The keyboard shortcut to do the same is Ctrl+Shift+T, which will work the same way and open a collection of closed tabs during the crash.

If you used the browser to open some other tabs after the crash, then you most likely won’t see the option in the drop-down menu nor the shortcut won’t work.

At this point, you can just open the browser history and sift through it to find the relevant tabs you want to reopen.

Needless to say, this process won’t work if you mistakenly turn off Chrome’s incognito mode or it fails because in this mode no browsing history is stored locally.
