Today’s portable storage expands to 64 GB or even 128 GB in some cases. You can fill that space with HD videos, music, and many other important data files. If you organize your files in folders, it will be very easy for you to find them in the explorer.
But do we really sort them to the last byte? Well, I pull my videos from various sources and honestly, I don’t care to organize them out of sheer laziness. I don’t even remember what folder I dumped them in.
Easily search through your files on Android
When it comes to search, we all know that no one can do it better than Google. But that’s limited to online searches. Google search on Android phones is still limited to apps and contacts. There’s nothing to help with personal or video searches or office documents directly from the home screen. Worse, even the app search for installed apps is complemented by web search suggestions. One more tap is required to limit the search to the local device.
AndroSearch for Android
Thankfully, there’s an app for that. AndroSearch is a great app that makes searching through your phone extremely quick and easy. After you install and run the app for the first time, it will take some time to index the files you have on your device. It will search every nook and cranny of your phone for files, contacts, apps along with their metadata, so this step may take some time.
Once indexing is complete, you can start searching for anything on your Android. During the initial search, you’ll notice that the app searches not only for filenames, but also metadata. In the settings you can enable fuzzy search and forget about typos and typos. When this feature is enabled, Ashish contact names can be looked up using Asish keywords.
On the home screen, you have a list of recently modified files and recently installed apps. like Quick start feature you get in Windows 10. Whenever you search with a keyword, it shows the relevant contacts, apps, and then the files you’ve saved on the micro SD card. When you tap on the search results, you’ll have more options besides launching them.
Cool feature: The app also indexes file content from Office Files and PDFs. So, if you know a word or a phrase in a document, you can also look it up with AndroSearch.
Ways you can start AndroSearch
When it comes to search, it should be fast. That even includes the time it takes to access the app. AndroSearch provides 3 options to start searching quickly.
- It can be added to the notification drawer as a persistent notification. You should select this option in AndroSearch settings.
- The app has the option to replace the Google Now gesture itself.
- If none of that works for you, you can add a home screen widget.
My thoughts
AndroSearch is a great tool and can help Android users on a regular basis. I just want the app to have a visual makeover. The app will look great in Material Design with a gray theme. Just say!
