, we’ve shown you some cool options for managing your tasks on your iPhone or other iOS device. However, the Mac has its own app to do that, called Reminders which, depending on your usage, can be a very capable app.

So, if you regularly use Reminders on your Mac, read along to learn some helpful tips about it that are sure to make it even more useful for you.

Ready? Start.

Work with multiple tasks or lists

As you may already know, Reminders on Mac allows you to create to-do lists where you can add different reminders and manage them like notes in folders. Even better, if you turn on iCloud, the changes you make to Reminders on your Mac are instantly synced across your iOS devices, and vice versa.

You can select multiple items on the Prompt by holding down the CAPS key or the Command key while clicking them. Once you’ve selected one or more reminders, you can reorder them or drag them into other lists.

In a similar way, you can select multiple lists and Reminders will show all your tasks grouped together on the right panel of the app.

Turn emails and websites into reminders

Let’s say you receive an important email with information about an appointment or some other thing you want to remember. If you have a Reminder open, you can click on that message and drag it to the Reminder, and the app will create a task based on that email. Also, it will give you a direct link to it.

But email isn’t the only thing you can include in Reminders. You can also paste or drag and drop any URL from Safari into it and the prompt will create a task with a clickable link.

Important Note: Oddly enough, you can’t drop multiple emails into the Reminders window, nor can you drop a single email onto the Reminders icon (you can do this with other apps). You also cannot drop files into the prompt to create a task.

Miscellaneous tips

If you hide the left panel where the reminder lists are located, you can swipe left or right on your Mac’s trackpad or Magic Mouse to scroll through these lists.

Reminders does not allow tagging or any other advanced way to categorize your tasks. But that doesn’t mean you can’t organize your messages. To do that, use the hashtag system #Twitter and add a “#” symbol to a word that you can specify to separate your tasks by category.

For example, you can use #partyprep or #shopping and then use the powerful search feature in Reminders to filter those tasks out of the rest.

There you have them. Use these tips to make Reminders work better and faster for you. In the end, it’s important that you become more productive and that’s exactly what you’ll achieve if you use these tips. Enjoy!
