What Happens When You Leave Family Sharing
Here are some things that get affected as soon as you leave Family Sharing.
- You’ll lose access to shared subscriptions (iCloud, Apple Music, etc.) you didn’t purchase.
- You’ll lose any purchases that are not yours from iTunes, App Store, and Apple Books.
- You will stop sharing your locations, and your device will be removed from the family Find My list.
- You will also lose access to other family members’ locations and devices in your Find My Devices list.
- If you’re using an Apple Watch with a Family setup, you can’t manage that Apple Watch.
- If you’ve set up Apple Cash Family, the remaining balance will transfer to the organizer’s account when you leave Family Sharing. If you’re the organizer, you’ll get the balances from anyone who leaves the Family Sharing.

Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and tap Family.

1. Why can’t I leave Family Sharing?
If you are the Family Sharing organizer, you won’t get the option to leave Family Sharing; instead, you will get ‘Stop Using Family Sharing’.
