One of the most talked about features of iOS 9 is Wi-Fi support. This feature is a blessing for people like me who can’t afford poor internet connection. Basically, it will automatically switch to your data connection if the Wi-Fi signal is poor or doesn’t broadcast any networks. You won’t even know it’s happening in the background.
While the feature is great, users with limited data connections have turned down the feature for fear of going over their data limit. But what if I told you that you can get a similar feature on Android with the added advantage of setting a limit on mobile data usage? I’m sure it will be great.

Speedify, an app launched from the makers of Connectify will make this possible on your Android. This app is basically a VPN software that uses Wi-Fi and mobile data to keep you connected. So to get started, you’ll have to install the Speedify app on your Android device, then create an account. (This is a referral link that will get you 2GB of data for free. Once you install and log into the app, it will ask you to create a VPN connection. This VPN connection will not be a fake connection and you will actually connect to one of the Speedify servers. The connection is quick and as soon as you connect it will use the best adapter available to connect to the internet.
The best thing about the app is that you can configure the mobile data connection as a backup connection. From the sidebar, tap adapter and here you can choose how you want to use the cellular connection. You can also configure monthly and daily usage limits to be precise with your bandwidth consumption.
While using the VPN server, I did not find any crashes or speed drops on any of the connected networks. You will see a world map and you can easily choose the location you want to connect to. So this means you can enjoy apps and services that are not available in your country.
Everything is great about the app, when I personally try and disconnect the internet from my Wi-Fi router, Speedify automatically connects me to the cellular connection and keeps me online. Then when I reconnect the Wi-Fi, it switches the adapter again. Everything is seamless.
The only concern is that you only get 1 GB of free usage per month, then you need to pay for the service. There is a way you can refer friends and get more data in your account.
The app is also available for iOS devices, meaning you can control mobile usage and have smarter Wi-Fi support.
Conclusion
After using Speedify, I’m surprised we don’t have it by default. I’ve always wanted to have a use where one can tell if the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to is broadcasting the internet. Like the yellow exclamation mark you see in Windows.
